I make a different version from Yugoslavia ... called Sarma. (Sp?)..... recipe similar, except uses equal amounts of lean ground beef, lean ground pork, and ground ham. Also...uncooked, (not instant) rice. Then wrapped in cabbage....cooked in a pot or in oven...in layers with sauerkraut. One thing....can also get the cabbage to be limp by removing the center, and freeze overnight. When thawed, leaves are limp also. Thanks for the recipe...lhave also liked the ones with sauce and did not know how it was made!

Why do people always pick apart a video and make fun or emphasize something someone does or says. Just watch the video and either like it or dislike it. Why should anyone care how he talks. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME ALL THE WAY UP TO TODAY, I DO ALMOST EVERYTHING, BUT: NOW I COOK THE MIXTURE IN A POT WITH THE RICE FIRST, THEN I ADD CHOPPED BOILED CABBAGE TO IT WHEN THE BEEF MIXTURE IS COOKED. TASTES THE SAME, ENDS UP IN THE STOMACH THE SAME, JUST NOT ROLLED UP AND OVEN COOKED. PLUS, ITS VERY FAST AND TASTES GREAT.

For better aroma, sautee chopped mushroom in butter and garlic and then add all that to the filling bowl before mixing. After rolling up the cabbage, if necessary, you can blanch long green onion leaves and use as string to tie the rolls. Brown the rolls in a pan first before baking in oven.

The potato cake recipe was a very good idea because potatoes are cheap. My grandma use to fix potato cake's and they were so delicious. I'm looking forward to trying your recipe for potato cake's 👍😊😘

What my Polish grandmother (Busia) taught me (depression era ..another meal out of what your already doing) cabbage soup.. Save the cabbage water add diced potatoes & quarter the left over cabbage.. tomatoes (I use diced)add salt & pepper.. Cook until tender Now you also have a hardy soup and no extra cost !!
