My late wife used to cook these and they were delicious. Since I moved here to Thailand over thirty years ago I haven't had them. After watching your video they are now on my agenda. Peppers are on the wife's shopping list.

Love stuffed peppers and cabbage too. I use a mix of canned diced tomatoes and a can of tomato soup as a cooking sauce to steam them in. Cheese and onions pasties tonight.😘

I don't tell my wife what to do Daniel. She's always tired from work and has no energy for videos.

My mum (who was Maltese) used to make similar stuffed peppers using breadcrumbs instead of rice. It was her way of using up stale bread. It was one of my favourites as a kid in the 70s. Back then, as you'll remember, bell peppers were quite expensive and regarded as exotic but the stuffing being made from leftovers made it economical too. Thanks for the memory!
Ey up m'lad our lad our goer Keef. Tha stuffed peppers look proper grand! Minced beef an' rice combo is a right good shout, and that melted cheese on top? Pure genius. Reckon I'll be givin' this a go fer tea tomorrow. Cheers for sharin', lad! Keep 'em comin'!

This looks delicious! Reminds me of the dish that my mother used to make, stuffed tomatoes with basically the same filling, but with feta cheese.

It's the time of season to stuff everything; tomatoes with tuna, peppers with chicken or beef mix, zucchini with veggie mix. No end to the choices . We have lots of extra veg to stuff at this point in the season. Make salsa's, bbq sauces. Salads. Best time of year for anything. One tip to make the stuffed bell peppers taste better is to blanch them before stuffing, really soften them up ahead of the oven.

It's been a while since I've made stuffed peppers. (My mom loved them.) So I may make them again now that the weather has turned slightly cooler.

I do stuffed pepper's often, I prefer using minced turkey for mine.

I love these. Similarly with Corgette and Marrow. But I have always considered them too fiddly but you have made it look less so. I think the ones I have eaten mostly was probably with Lamb, cos it was in Middle East places and cardamom would have been infused in them I think. But they are as nice as eating Strawberries. Need a sharp serrated knife so the Pepper holds its shape when you cut in.

Great recipe Keef. Someday I'd like someone to show what the rice water looks after it's final rinse: no matter how many times I rinse my rice the water looks almost as opaque as it did the first time around!
@Keefcooks4 ай бұрын
Well, it's not 100% clear, but certainly much clearer than at the start.

Those look delicious! Thank you for giving Basil a guest role in this recipe. I'll definitely make this in September when my daughter has gone uni so won't object to cooked peppers. Any tips for a Marmite substitute in this? We don't keep it around.
@Keefcooks4 ай бұрын
Marmite sub - anything beefy tasting - a crushed stock cube would do.

I found a new dish Helzel[a] (from Yiddish: העלזעל) or gefilte helzel is an Ashkenazi Jewish dish. It is a sort of sausage made from poultry neck skin stuffed with flour, semolina, bread crumbs or matzo meal (when cooked on Passover), schmaltz, and fried onions and sewn up with a thread. please
