The banking financial sector self serving needs push for thriving immigration to keep the upward pressure on housing because we are less than replacement on birth rate. That's all there is to it.

What's the cost price of any of these houses? The prices should be regulated. It's not only supply and demand and, of course, land. No one will ask for a price that is lower than the market. How is that house made from concrete, whose cost price is not more than 200k, has a price of 1.2m? It is a speculation. The government should take control of houses market and reconsider the rules of estimation of prices. That is very easy to do. Set an estimated price for every area, square, location, and so on. Otherwise, you've lost control of the market. Using only interest rates to regulate the market is not enough.

@pistolfish8688 No, law and order. Without control, only chaos. You can see it with the prices everywhere. Most products are from China. You can compare prices in China with locals on the same products. Free delivery. Here you see double the price. Groceries are the same story. Big companies with their own suppliers. No competition. That's why we have high prices.
