Perfect ! I've had my S5 since last year and noticed more pedal strikes, simple to do and only took a few minutes. Need to test it now. Thanks

HUGE thanks for this and the other Stumpjumper videos! Just got the same bike and this was the only thing that helped me out with the flip chip. The upgrade tips are really appreciated too - the brakes, cranks and paintwork are definitely this bike's biggest weaknesses.

Yes agree, brakes are the worse I've had on any bike. Very disappointed!

Just so people know, this doesn’t apply to 2019-2020 alloy Stumpjumpers. Those have still got the flip chip in the shock linkage. It’s weird that they moved it to the Horst link on the 21s when the carbon versions don’t even have a Horst link anymore.

So what was different riding wise? I have a 2020 and flip chip is on shock. Felt like it lifted me up some. Less peddle strikes.

Most noticeable is fewer pedal strikes.

Great video! I just followed your instruction and changed my flip chip position. However, I realized that the bearing at the flip chip does not seems to rotate on either side. Is that normal, all my other bearings rotate very freely. Hope you can help me out, thanks

New to the area coming from Houston. I'm down in SA but noticed your Comal Trails Alliance hat. Never heard of the organization but have some family up in Spring Branch so I'll definitely check out the trails up in Comal county. I'm currently using an old Rockhopper 29er but am wanting a full suspension. Do you recommend the Stumpy for this part of TX?

Why are you taking the rear shock loose? All you have too do is remove your rear wheel and remove the two Flip chips at the end of your frame turn them around and replace them.
@connorplow3 жыл бұрын
You don't need to even take off the rear shock, I saw it in another video and did it on my Stumpjumper. 1st undue the wheel and 2nd change the two flip chips to the desired setting

Take a look at page 21 figure 7.1 in the manual linked to in the description. It will show you that the bolt hole nearer to the back of bike is the low position and bolt hole nearer the front of bike is in the high position.

Hi love the video thanks for making it! Can ask a question please? WHen you remove the allen bolts from the flip chips, you hardly need any effort. Had you pre loosened them? I just started to follow your video just now on my 2021 stumpy and the bolts are MEGA tight. I mean, my allen wrench is bending. I can probabally force them with a longer lever. I guess they have factory fit locktight on the threads LOL Any tips?
@TXMTBN3 жыл бұрын
I was using an Allen with a handle, so a little longer. Pretty tight first time breaking them as the have a bit of thread lock on them as I remember.

is it possible to changed the wheel set from 29 to 27.5? Do i have to adjust the flip chip if i do the switching?
@TXMTBN2 жыл бұрын
I guess you could, but I think you would get a lot of pedal strikes. The flip chip only changes the height by 7mm which is like the width of a pencil eraser, so not enough to go to 27.5s.

@brucesummers74483 жыл бұрын
Changing frame angle may make a noticeably difference, though at 0.5 degree this is doubtful. Increasing the bottom brack height by 1/4 of an inch is also not going to make a real difference. If someone has problems with pedal strikes they need to work on their technique or put on shorter cranks or buy a different bike. But it is good marketing to provide this gimmic.
