Hi Mr Stumpy, I really like your videos. About this one, I must say that I realized such an upgrade years ago with melamine. It exceeds the table on the in feed side that serves as an in feed table, just like the one you show, but with a different design, of course. It does work pretty well. I added an ajustable leg at the end of the in feed extension to support long pieces. An adjustable leg can be made from a telescoping painter pole or shower curtain rod. Safe, simple and free (or almost). Not as light as this aluminum one, of course, but for the price, I like it. We are in the DIY universe, so I encourage people to make their own tools and jigs because it is also a part of the DIY mentality. Good job. Thanks.

Thanks again for the presentation the product was well worth the money.

Greeting from England, My 36" version came in yesterday (16th May 2024). I was surprised on the quality, and how heavy and strong the fence is. Easily fit onto my DeWalt Table saw in my garage size hobby workshop. The infeed and outfeed attachments is really well designed, very strong and fit the fence perfectly, and only today saw your video on this fence. At the time writing, it is now available in the UK from Wood workers workshop a small company in England who import all the Bow products.

I got mine a couple weeks ago when 731 woodworks announced taylor tools had a shipment coming and was acceoting preorders. Ive already been using the feather boards on the router table quite a bit. I havent out the fence on the saw yet, but one of the main benefits i like is the downward feather boards which dont readily fit on a table saw like the side ones do. Really helpful for jeeping the wood on the table when ripping long miters. And I do have a jobsite saw too, but it hadnt dawned on me to put the fence on that one since i don't use it as much.

I don't have a job site table saw. Mine is a a 1970s Delta/Rockwell Contractor's saw. I'll spare you from the longwinded story. Not planning on upgrading just yet to a Harvey cabinet saw right away. Instead I am building a bench integrated with the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System/Kreg Track Saw. This will will reduce my need in many cases for a table saw. Yet I would be a fool to watch this video and think that I shouldn't explore getting the Bow Products 46" XT XTENDER Fence System. Anything that would make my world a safer place is something I am willing to invest my hard-earned money in. Even when I get my Harvey down the road, it's not like I couldn't still use this fence. Either that or I could pass on to someone with a job site table saw that wold truly benefit from the tool. Great vid. Thanks.

I commented previously and did purchase the 48” model for my Skil brand 8-1/4 job site saw. Huge improvement in ease of use and safety. My question is about making jigs which will slide over it. One of the problems with the saw is the very small table which makes a cross cut sled which runs in the two tracks on the table difficult to use. Do you think a workaround where the sled slid on top the extended BOW fence like a jig on the fence for cutting lap joints on vertical boards or the fence and the track to the outside of the blade is feasible?

I bought a full set a month or two back and it definitely makes a huge difference. I got the 46” fence, a pair of the supports, a pair of the vertical feather boards and a horizontal feather board. The comments below are not wrong - it’s a good bit of change (dollars), but it’s also make a big change in the usefulness, accuracy and safety of the saw. And FWIW, these accessories can multi-task - put them on a bandsaw, replace your table saw and use them on the new saw, etc. Those fence extrusions deserve a special comment. They are seriously solid (and heavy, which is not a problem). I had been thinking about making something sort of like this using the usual suspects and they’re nowhere near as solid.

It is worth noting that the Bow Fence works great with the Harvey Big Eye fence. It fixes my one complaint with the Big Eye which was a way to attach feather boards etc. to the fence plate. The Bow Fence is a perfect replacement to the one that ships with the Big Eye.

Thanks for this 4.1/2 minute advertisement for an admittedly awesome idea. I put a book mark in my tools folder so I can buy myself one, or maybe add it to my Christmas wish list.

Friendly advice, find another excuse and get it. Any excuse! Really does make your saw punch above its class.

Finally! For those of us that are stuck with a job site saw this is huge but has anyone talked about what size would work best or is it another case of bigger is better?

This is looking like a very good product. Almost all products do when put in the spotlight. That's why I deem a product good after I've discovered the downsides with the product. I then weigh the good versus the bad and come down to a decision. The only thought I have right here is that I have no idea how well tested this product is. Is it really tested enough to be safe? How does the machine / wood act when something happens? I have no idea. So what do I need to do to stay as safe as possible? No idea again. It might work very well indeed, but I don't know this for sure as it hasn't been approved by any safety standards in my very safety standard country (Sweden). Many parts are made of plastic, will they hold throughout the years or dry up and crack when they're needed the most? What I'm saying is that this product isn't tried. When it is, I'll probably be the first in line to the shop. When it comes to safety test trials, I'd prefer not to gamble with my own safety. Especially when the country the product comes from doesn't share the same safety culture as the country it is used in.

You and 731 woodworks both promote this item. It is a nice item and it does work mostly well. Mostly. The feather boards need to be adjusted really tight in order to optimize the anti kick back features. The cutouts for the t track clamps on back aren't as well placed for ALL saws as it claims. This really limits how useful the outfeed feature really is. For some insight, my jobsite saw is a popular Dewalt fold out jobsight saw that I don't have a model number for in front of me. It has a dual action fence that allows for some thinner or thicker stock with the flip of the dual action fence. The dual action fence also allows for support when ripping wider ply. Oh and if you want to make a quick adjustment in rip width when running wider stuff forget it. The Bow extender makes it impossible to move the fence because the weight of it pushes down on the rack and pinion fence adjustment so much that you have to either lift up on rip fence assembly or take it off. Otherwise it feels as though you may damage your saw. The t track clamps do their job but on my saw in particular, no matter where you put them or align the Bow extender it puts too much pressure on the dual action fence assembly and bows the metal while tightening even slightly enough to prevent the Bow extender from moving on the saws bed. I've had to use some 2x4 cut down between the dual action rip fence and the Bow clamps in order to not damage my very new saw. So is it a well made product? Yes, but with caveats. It is not a one size fits all as it claims. It is a heavy item that could be of detriment for smaller saws especially. Heavy enough to tip a saw over if not very careful or completely level. And to be very honest, a Dewalt saw being probably in the top 3 popular jobsite saws this should have been more thought through as a "fit all". I like the Bow extender. Is it worth the premium I paid for a metal rail and a couple clamps? Meh. I'd only give 3.5 stars for functionality at days end. It'd be a great design that saw manufacturers could perfect as a saw add on at purchase.

I agree, the weight of the fence does result in an unsettling drop putting stress on the on the rack and pinion slides. I built a combination table saw/assembly table, using the longer assembly section as an outfeed, which works very well. However, I only added an additional 7 inches of support to the right of the saw (made this before purchasing the Bow fence). Didn't really think about the weight issue until I attempted a 24 or so inch rip and experienced the drop. So as is, I only have a rip capacity of about 18 inches. My solution will be to fashion some sort of additional support to the right of the saw (I have the DeWalt 7491 which ordinarily has a 32" rip capacity with the stock fence). Overall, I am happy with the fence, seems to be straight and square. Kind of surprised more people haven't experienced the weight issue. One other thing, you can save some money, about 40 dollars, by making an infeed support, I made one using a piece of 1/2 inch plywood and a couple of T bolts, you do need the shim it 1/16 of an inch to make it perfectly level to the table, small washers did the trick.
