Advice from a paramedic here. Always carry 2 epipens. Ideally 1 would suffice, but you might need another shot if the reaction is too severe or another one later on on the way to an emergency department. The 0.2mg is "alright" but now the data shows that 0.3mg is more effective in a single dose than 0.2mg in adults.

@@moixemi Well, I wouldn't want to come face to stinger with one, but I can admire its beauty from afar. And bees are very important, especially honeybees. So live and live, I say. I'm arachnophobic, though I can deal with "barely there" spiders, meaning really small bodied ones with long legs whose fangs couldn't even bite me if they wanted to. Also, little jumping spiders are kinda cute (from a distance). But other house spiders, especially ones with thick bodies, creep me out! Still, I respect the good that spiders do, and hate killing, so try to catch and release, or get my husband to. UNLESS they land or crawl on me. THEN IT'S SQUISH CITY BABY! And aside from caterpillars, ANYTHING crawly with more than eight legs is "OH HELL NAW!" territory! I know. I'm weird. It makes life more interesting though.

the reason why the first bee didn't hurt is because it probably didnt penetrate the epidermis. No reason to think their venom is any different. It just didn't penetrate deep enough into the epidermis to cause the nociceptors to fire. They are typically located at the stratum basale, deepest layers of the epidermis. So due to the angle at which bee nr 1 stung, it just slided into the epidermis, which got multiple layers, but only the deepest layers got free nerve endings to signal pain.

Getting stung by a carpenter is pretty impressive lol. I once walked up to one as she was burrowing and gave her a gentle pet on the back. She did NOT care at all. And there was another I found with a broken wing - picked her up and gave her some sugar water. Was my bestie for a moment. Both were def female, and thus could've stung tf outta me if they wanted.
