The exoskeleton of this insect is robust, you'd be able to feel the strength of its carapace through the ends of the forceps. I imagine it would actually take a surprising amount of force to crush it.

Possibly my favorite wasp, especially because of how I first met one: she just crawled right up my leg while I was stargazing! I caught it, brought it inside to identify, and mom was NOT amused when we found out about the potent sting. I, the family bug hugger, naturally thought it was the coolest thing ever. A year or so later, we found a dead female out back, so I gave it to my biology teacher (our final project had been to make an insect collection); he loved it, and proceeded to regale his class with a description of these insects and how they reproduce, complete with the obligatory comparison to the xenomorphs from Alien.

I absolutely value Mark's determination to get "THE" sting, even after taking about 8 smaller, but still potent stings. I will never forget being a kid about 15 years ago and my neighbors eucalyptus tree attracting HUNDREDS of tarantula hawks at a time. I wish I was exaggerating. I legitimately thought there was a hive of them in the tree until I found out that they were solitary. That tree was cursed with stinging insects, it also was host to thousands of smaller bees and wasps but I could always tell which ones were the t hawks

A wasp sting I received a few years ago was the absolute worst pain I've ever felt! The stinger broke off and almost turned my hand to stone a couple days later. Nothing compared to this wasp of course. Mind you, I've fallen out of a moving vehicle, AC joint dislocation, tree fall from 10 metres, 3 cracked ribs etc. Incredible is the power/ pain of such small creatures!!!
