STUNNED by VAN LIFE FRIENDLY CITY in EUROPE...BUT EVERYTHING CHANGED.

Vanlife is full of ups and downs, and this week was two contrasting sides of the vanlife story. We took our campervan to Czechia on a whim, to visit its capital, the magnificent city of Prague. We discovered a safe place to park our campervan that allowed us to explore this iconic city, which as anyone knows in a van, is a rare treat indeed! The rain didn't stop but we had a ball enjoying authentic Czech food, cheap beer, and the beautiful buildings and streets of Prague. However, things didn't quite go to plan once we left, and we found ourselves facing sudden and unexpected van problems in a foreign country, which left us wondering if vanlife in Europe was over.

Hi guys, oh yes that food was sublime! We actually made it ourselves last night funnily enough and it was just as good, very easy too. That was a type of comfort food completely new to us. Thank you Lindsay, all seems to be fixed now, we hope 🙏 Yeah I think hating being around lots of people is more common than we think, Stephen's not a fan either, that said it felt managable in Prague, probably because it was chucking it down constantly 😂

Thank you for taking me back. I went with my Gran back in 2003 and we paid to go on one of the boat trips (which I think cost the equivalent of £10 each with a 3-course meal and wine all night). That fateful night, we also bumped into another group who introduced us to White Russians; the rest of the trip is a blur! I remember the bridge and the clock (as I mentioned on Insta). Another great vlog!

That sounds an absolute bargain, I guess things like that aren't so cheap anymore, but I reckon it's still a more affordable place overall. And you've now encouraged us to try a White Russian for better or worse 😂

Poor Daisy. Looking forward to the update, diagnosis and repair. One day, you've got to get solar installed, so you won't have to plug in. Not that it would help with a week's worth of rain. Maybe a travel adaptor so you can plug in (don't know if they work for RVs, though). Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada

Hi Jon, a travel adaptor would be fine I think, for the electric hook up it's the same problem, you may need an adaptor to fit that country's type, which was the case in Czechia. Germany, however, we've been able to use our UK one everywhere. It's the same with filling up our LPG gas - we have a bag of different adaptors to fit whatever country we're in. Solar would be wonderful but we were told our roof is too small or difficult to fit it 😟 I'm not so sure that's true (even a small panel would be something), but it would mean we'd probably have to make room for a bigger internal battery and I have no idea where that would go as there definitely wouldn't be room where our leisure battery is currently. I think our van is a bit limited, but hey, we manage okay and we've gotten quite used to the things we can't/don't have 😂

Thank you so much guys 🥰 Prague was a real treat for us because big city visits are rare in a van, so to be able to drive Daisy there with ease and experience that was quite something 😍🙏 Of course Daisy has pulled through now, (so far so good anyway) and we managed to salvage the trip, but not without a few ups and downs along the way. The garages were amazing despite the total language block on either side 🙈 Safe travels to you both xx ❤️

Hope the oil leak is not serious, look for the highest point of any oil trace, and you should find its source. most common oil leaks: 1. loose oil filter 2. crankcase/ camshaft seals [if you had noticed any smokey exhaust leading up to the leak] 3. oil pan gasket or its drain plug or damage to a corroded sump pan itself caused by stone flicking up and putting a hole in it.

Prague is so amazing, I loved seeing this! Czech food is delicious, but it is exactly as you say: if you're going to eat, find places farther away from the main area. I heard a Prague guide once explain how something like 90% of the tourists who come to Prague barely get out of the same small central area. Just going down a few streets from that main area, the food prices will drop dramatically. Also, did you notice how often water is more expensive than beer in restaurants? 😂 Ordering a bottle of water is often more expensive than ordering 2 large beers in Prague😂

Good evening! 😁 So glad you liked it, I take it you've been to Prague then. Isn't it beautiful? I don't know what we expected but it definitely lived up to its reputation. You're so right about the tourist areas though! It was astonishing how expensive they were and yet everyone flocked to them...and yet, a few streets away, it wasn't really like that at all. Maybe the people eating in the main parts don't care, but I suspect they don't think to even look elsewhere! Mad really. Haha we didn't notice that about the water (too busy ordering beer instead I guess 😂) but we can well believe that! The beer was astonishingly cheap compared to the UK. Quite shocked given Prague's popularity that it hasn't risen considerably. Thank you for watching and commenting, appreciate it 🥰❤️

We thought Disney straight away too, which just brings to mind Daisy Duck every time we look at it! We don't mind that though 😁 She came with her logos and there was no way we were changing it or her name! And thank you, bless her ever so slightly rusty socks, she is on the move again although we were certainly a bit stranded in the days that followed. Prague was an absolute highlight, so happy we got to see it in person. You sometimes think "we can't drive there, it'll be too far" forgetting, of course, that actually it was just a quick nip over the border. Thanks again and see you next week 😍❤️

Daisy had more wrong with her than we thought and it wasn't easy but (spoiler alert) we did manage to sort things in the end. Well, we think so 🙈 It could've been a lot worse so we're very relieved, it just took a long time to get there! The funfair was amazing, it felt so traditional but on a really big scale, it seemed so much better than your average UK funfair. Never seen any in Ireland but we hope to visit in the next couple of years!
