The most beautiful sight in the world is that tanker dropping down out of the sky to drop retardant. They came right over my house back in 2011 fighting the Tri-County fire near me (north of Houston). They had just come off the Bastrop fire.

@@TexasTimelapse You always see planes and helicopters making multiple trips for hours trying you put out like huuuuge areas of land lol. From what I’ve noticed, areas this big, it’s pointless and just wastes fuel. There’s also a lot of maintenance to them needed also. Finally that red stuff in the water’s fire retardant containing ammonia and phosphate which isn’t good to be dropping everywhere.

@@SamWilkinsonn That fire retardant is the same fertilizer ingredients as are used on farms around the world. You do know that plants need those nutrients to grow, right? And guess what - the added benefit of fire retardant is it helps encourage regrowth after the fire is over.

😢 Watching them throw a [little] powder and a few drops of water looks hopeless. They are brave men and women and may they be filled with God's spirit to continue working hard but seeing the size of the fire and watching them throw water on it... It's like having an out-of-control grease fire and try to put out the fire with a water spray bottle. Weren't we told in science class not to throw water on fire when it becomes out of control because it'll do the opposite of the intended action?
