Great video. Its not always so easy to film this approach and landing. Because it depends on luck (out of your control), specifically: 1. The plane has to land from the East (when its more common to land from the West with a more boring/less scenic approach over the Pearl River Delta). 2. The weather has to be clear enough to have great visibility 3. You have to on the "correct" side of the aircraft. So, all in all, great video!

Don't forget the appropriate time of the day which can change the atmosphere (and quality, if you don't have a good camera) significantly!

Landing in HKG at night is wild. It can actually make you afraid for your life.

even if it lands from the west, you do still come out over the ocean, but i agree that it's only coming in from the east that gives you the views over Ma On Shan, the Sai Kung Peninsula and the Northern New territories.

Hong Kong doesn't really look that big, such as seeing it from the window at around 7:50. It looks like it covers much smaller of an area than Los Angeles does. But after thinking about it for another minute, I realized that it looks like Hong Kong has many more tall skyscrapers than L.A. has. L.A. is much more spread out and covers much bigger of an area, but doesn't have nearly as many tall skyscrapers. As I saw at a closer view, Hong Kong has many many towers all very very close together, many which look about 50 stories or higher. Hong Kong has just as big of a population, maybe more, than L.A., but Hong Kong is much more vertical. Hong Kong also seems to cover a smaller area than neighboring Chinese cities Dongguan and Ghangzhou, yet Hong Kong is just as populated as they are simply because Hong Kong has more taller skyscrapers (Hong Kong has more sights and entertainment to offer tourists than those other two cities as well). Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

Boy I wish the pilot or his crew would have an in house radio station you could plug into where someone was telling you about the islands and sea you ae flying over--just like in a movie. And folks at 6:14 you are starting to come under the clouds and see the islands up close. At 7:52 Is that the first view of Hong Kong bay? Maybe there is no Hong Kong Bay--but there is Kowoon, Sandy, Mirs, and waterfall Bays. Which ones will we see here as we land? Man has made many straight lines, vertical and horizontal, but all around are the irregular shapes of nature they you may forget as you walk the streets of the city. And at 10:20 we start to see the coves and inlets tucked awy into the hills. And then we appear to be climbing a bit as we go overland--searching for the rinway in the distance. Once again above the clouds but now over the main part of Hong Kong, sneaking through the clouds. And then the entire city surrounds you left and right as it looks like you are going down to land on Kowloon bay. The waters seem so still as we nervously sink down below the hills and can almost see the people on the trawlers below headed out to sea to fish, or transport commodities destined for far away places, or maybe much closer, Da Nang, Thailand perhaps. At 17:21 a perfect landing, as perfect as you knew it would be, but the video goes for another 3 minutes, I'm excited there is more to see. Ok fans w are here safely, time to disembark--I hope you have a onder time in Hong Kong. Come back and tell your stories for me to read as I have subscribed for updates.

How much time was there in the filming break between 6:09 and 6:10? It looks like it was at least several minutes judging by more islands being more prominently visible, and the engines being quiter. I've noticed when flying (and in this video) how much quieter the engines sound from inside the plane when descending compared to how they sounded at cruising altitude (such as the first few minutes of this video). I also wonder what the engines at cruising altitude power would sound like from outside the aircraft standing on the ground and seeing it passing by at about 1/4 to 1/2 of a kilometer overhead. Aircrafts sound loud enough from the outside at landing power, like for example when I'm leaving my parked car at the airport and I see a landing plane passing overhead (at about 1/4 to 1/2 kilometer, it seems). If a plane was passing that short of a distance overhead at cruising altitude power, it would probably break someone's eardrums and would leave them permanently deaf. Take-off power also sounds quieter from inside the aircraft than cruising altitude power does, and you know how loud planes taking off sound from the outside.
