Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

3 жыл бұрын

Many of us dream of leaving the modern world behind and escaping to an idyllic off-the-grid cabin where we can relax, enjoy quiet time and be with nature. In this weeks episode, we meet an inspiring couple who did exactly that, building an amazing cabin by the river.
At 54 square meters, (850ft2) this small cabin is situated in a stunning location with panoramic views looking over the river and out to the forest beyond. Completely off-the-grid, solar powered and with rain water collection, this cabin is a beautiful and fully functional home.
From its modern, black exterior through to the warm plywood interior and exceptional views, this cabin is a dream home. Enjoy the full video tour!

@Kyle P I dunno where you live but in America ALL adults are having a hard time making ends meet. Young ppl turn to tiny homes because it gets them out of debt, they can save, plan and achieve financial security as they grow their families. And old ppl may chose it because maybe they'd rather do a lot more than maintaining a huge home in their golden years. Plus, many ppl have been disenchanted by capitalist consumerism, ppl don't wanna waste their lives stock piling stuff they don't need just so they can keep up with the Joneses. Many ppl would rather teach their kids other valuable lessons besides glutinous consumerism. Others still may want a tiny home in order to minimize their footprint because they care about the environment. Some ppl may like the flexibility of being able to locate their homes anywhere they please. The benefits are many and that's why ppl choose to live in tiny homes. That will become apparent to you if you watch more of the videos on this channel.

This is the best house I've ever seen. I love that they have a 'proper' bedroom and also that they can stand up in the mezzanine level. The only thing I would do differently is have a veranda along the side of the house that looks out onto the river, so in the warmer months there would be somewhere nice to sit outside.

Loved the artwork throughout the house & the fact is he's standing upright in the bedroom. That's the only gripe I have with other tiny homes, the sleeping area you have to stoop, crawl in & out of the bed, bumping your head in the process. The landscaping, septic & water systems, along with the solar panels, were completely thought out in that footprint. Wonderful craftsmanship, btw.👍

I have the same thought about those loft bedrooms, being elderly. Some of them feel claustrophobic w. the ceiling so close- reminds me of the top bunk in a submarine. Also I sketch and write a bit in bed each evening before sleeping.

Yeah (pun only mildly intended), I think that this style/size would appeal to a much wider audience than the average tiny home. It has the square footage of a small apartment, which a lot of people are content with in that context. I think that it's almost.... Habit (?) to assume that houses need to be much bigger. Personally, I really like when space is used effectively. So having a ton of wasted space would just annoy me

My house is including the shed 84 square meters, with a three-bedroom, an attic, and a cellar. Very spacious there. Next to the river, would go for this placement though. No close neighbours.

Beautiful home. My wife of 31 years and myself also agree on house size. We typically like around 1000sf or less. Im not sure we want a tiny home, but people have somehow been sold on bigger is better related to houses. As a general contractor in home renovations we see many many homes. Hundreds and thousands of wasted square footage being heat an cooled, maintained and furnished. The amount of waste is sickening. For the past 7 years we have lived in a 1400sf home, which includes a private space for our 24 year old autistic son. Even at that we think the house is too large. The main reason for not having sold and bought smaller is that our business is based on our property, so we have a fairly large business office space within that 1400sf also. So for now we are staying. Its also nice to have a metal shop building for all of our tools and equipment for the business. It eliminates the need for an expensive commercial space, plus its much safer in not having theft issues of the equipment etc. as we have two dogs and camera system setup. 7 years ago we significantly downsized our lifestyle after having got caught up in the “american dream”....in quotes because that really means “in debt up to your eyeballs”. Today we live on $2200 per month.

It's my observation that the more constraints you have wrt space and money, the more wildly different and creative your minds starts thinking about how to utilize the available space and more importantly what is really needed and what is fluf. ALL the tiny houses that you have visited Bryce have their own individuality that just keeps on impressing me every time I watch one of your videos. Yours is one of my favorite KZbin channels. Nice home! Love the downstairs bedroom. Love the exterior and that it sits on a foundation. Seems a little bigger than your typical tiny home...it's just big enough for two empty nesters. I wish Bryce would have gotten them to show him what that small little out building was. Looked like a little hang out spot or something.
