The title makes someone think the jet flew around the world when it really only flew for 20 minutes . Also , there were no humans on the jet during this flight . As someone mentioned here, Mach 4 is NOT hypersonic speed. That has to be Mach 5 and above. Otherwise, this is apparently a highly scalable prototype vehicle, no longer a test one. There is also the issue of getting other countries to agreeing to allow this vehicle to land/takeoff, so this is far from a certainty. YunXing "云行" means cloud-striding, or cloud-strider.

Sorry, just saw your comment. Do you mean the US/West as a partnership. This is not true. The US/West is at least a decade behind China and Russia in hypersonic technology. China is the most advanced hypersonic country and its research and development works at the “speed of China light”. Their leadership is all about investing in education over the last 40 years. The Chinese government focused on STEM EDUCATION (from vocational through postgrad university) and now has more STEM graduates including PhD. scientists and engineers than the U.S. and all of Europe and the UK COMBINED! They understand that EDUCATION is the lynchpin for a better future for their children. In contrast, nearly 21% of our college students “drop out” of STEM education majors because they are too to HARD for them! This stat in itself is devastating for US technological leadership. We cannot keep up, and are losing ground in almost every field to China. Get it? The U.S. can never statistically catch up with about 1/4 of the population of China. In addition, the Chinese college and university system is ranked #1 in the world along with being ranked #1 across most of the critical technology fields. Our public and college education is also in decline. According to a recent Australian think tank research study (available online), China leads the world in ALL but a handful of core technologies, many even here show that they are either tied or not far behind.

Well, the claim is that a prototype flew successfully. But no description of the suze of this prototype and how it was powered. If it was launched on a rocket booster, unmanned and flew in LEO then it wasn't much different than space capsules inserted into LEO. Or, the test flight could be near space and never reaching LEO. It's not news that China is trying stuff related to space exploration. It would be news if China developed some kind of air breathing hypersonic engine. It would be news if China achieved any kind if reusability. Itbwould be news if anything in this video actually represented something truthfully and wasn't a misdirection and recharacterization of capability we all knew China already has.

Get your facts right first. M4 is not hypersonic. Hypersonic is defined as anything flying faster than M5. M4 is just high supersonic.
