Ive been a collector since 1964, and I have travelled many places and seen many things. I maintain a healthy collection of German helmets which I keep private and are NFS...It just amazes me the ridiculously high prices thet Regimentals have and the suckers that are willing to spend two or three times what an item is worth to these guys....There are deals everywhere..dont waste your money on these crooks

At last, someone who seems to know what he is talking about! I have spent the who afternoon watching every KZbin vid on spiked helmets and am shocked at the sheer amount of rubbish and ignorance being passed off by new collectors. A bought my first spiked helmet 50 years ago and have been adding to my collection ever since and learn something new all the time. Here is a shocking fact they don't seem to know, there are BOOKS on the subject! Given the prices on helmets today you would think they might want to do some research before investing in a good helmet. When I started there was almost nothing on the subject and I made a lot of mistakes but then good helmets didn't cost all that much. Now I see fakes being passed off as real and not cheap either, so study before you buy. The best advice I have is to find an advanced collector and talk to him and most importantly, ask if you can closely examine his collection.

No such thing as a base line helmet but I would buy any spiked helmet in good condition at $200, and yes they are still out there but it takes some hunting to be sure. Remember originality and condition !!!!!!! Good luck!

Prices quoted are at least 3 times more than European markets.. In France, Belgium and Germany much lower prices.. .. If he gets those prices then good for them.. 2 knights iron crosses at the same time would sound alarm bells for me.. Hopefully they are genuine as some reproduction copiers are getting clever with fakes...

@@buninparadise9476 : Mich ärgert es schlichtweg, wenn der , Helm mit Spitze', so hieß er nämlich amtlich, stets falsch bezeichnet wird. Und ich habe nie behauptet, sonderlich gute Kenntniss der englischen Sprache zu haben, aber ich teile ihre Freude an ihrer diesbezüglichen Genialität.

Prices are high but at least they stand by their items I suspect some are forgeries as German items are so well faked now that no one can tell

One more thing, if you see a good reproduction helmet at a good price there is nothing wrong with adding it to your collection as originals going for insane prices. But if that reproduction is not clearly and permanently marked as a reproduction then it is a COUNTERFEIT helmet and sure as hell it will someday make its way back onto the market as an original, they are out there now so be careful.

@@axolotl-guy9801 I am from Germany and my personal experience is that the current generation keeps forgetting what happened only 75 years ago. More than 40 percent dont even know the name "Auschwitz". Thats sad, it makes me feel like there should be something to touch, something that stands for the terrible time back then that you cant imagine when you live nowadays. Its like everybody wants to forget about what happened and our government seems to be ok with that. Its one thing to build museums that talk about what happened, but its another thing to have personal belongings that once were in the war to show yourself that nobody was innocent. And then there are those militaria collectors that touch this stuff because thei adore it or they only see the money...something is wrong here!
