The sacrifices our ancestors made is worth remembering. Could you imagine, u think in germany 9 of 10 men died. Russia lost tens of millions of lives. Japanese lost many lives, and so did all the allies. The bravery of these men and women will be forever honoured. Now we face a new war, its right in our face, and all these youth and even our parents, are not prepared to defend our civil liberties and freedoms. I am a millennial, but an old one lol

I love history, I just purchased my 1st WWII American Airborne Eagle patch. Also recently obtained a German 1st class Iron Cross. These items will only appreciate in value as the clock passes.
@OculusVector
@OculusVector 10 ай бұрын
@@marianmoses9604 For Authenticating an Iron cross there are several different methods, as my understanding is they are made from several different pieces, versus being just one solid piece of metal. As for patches, you can easily test the threads, often times there is an aging to the cloth material, a patina if you will that can only happen over long periods of time. Patches were often sewn in with a tan cotton backing. Authentic patches also will not glow or fluoresce under a black light.
@OculusVector
@OculusVector 10 ай бұрын
@@marianmoses9604 I couldn't agree more. Thankfully I have a line on a dealer here in my area who only trades and deals with reputable merchants. He often hits the WWII shows in Europe and Germany. Many of the Nazi Iron Cross's also had a certain Hallmark on the back, however some did not have one at all. I was able to do the paper test on my Iron Cross, and additionally have the clasp itself authenticated. I don't blame anyone for scrutinizing before purchasing. Its simply a good necessary practice these days.

When I was around 13, my family and I moved into a new house and there was a locked room in the basement... We lived there for at least 5 years and no longer could I resist the urge to break the padlock off and see what was in it ( the landlord had asked us to stay out but why didn't he just take the stuff with him?). Anyway, inside was a bunch of old stuff, things I vaguely remember, a lot of old brass knick knacks, and then there was some Nazi stuff - a hat, small medals and badges... no weapons. smaller ephemera. This was over 20 years ago and sadly, I was nowhere near as savvy, as I am now, so I didn't sell the stuff and without an internet connection, I couldn't easily "google" what I had, nor take any pictures. I know the landlord's name (he passed, some years ago) and know that his grandfather was a Nazi soldier but never knew the details.

I still find it hard to comprehend that he has to cover over the Swastika and other online dealers also do cover the Swastika. Yet in the movies it is displayed openly in flags etc! I have no objection, even my Auntie fought in the Greek resistance against the invading Germans. I was told she was quite ruthless and her great grandfather fought in the Greek war of Independence and I have his cap and ball pistol. I meet my Auntie back in 1979 and don't doubt it at all. Cheers from Australia.

Party pooper here. Sorry to piss on chips but: The wreath on the German cross is wrong on two counts. 1. It doesn't reveal enough of the vermilion colour under the inside circumference. 2. The date 1941 has no dimples. Also the backing plate to the swastika should be a dull silver finish & the back plate of the piece has no makers number. It has solder splash marks too. No German jeweller would have allowed this to pass inspection. It is interesting that he warned you to be cautious if the piece is too cheap, or too expensive. I have owned identical reproduction pieces with the tell tale solder splash on the backing plate. It is wrong of him to fool people this way, for large profits like that. The Knights cross was also quite unconvincing in it's overall appearance.

your absolute correct , most all awards have recorded history and documentation , every soldier had a soldt book that he carried on his person where every award ,promotion infractions where they served , what front how long under who etc etc , high level awards were also noted in these books in addition to further documentation in the paper trail back to the headquarters of where the award originated and who made the recommendation, a knights cross with oak leaves and or diamonds would have an intense paper trail , and that documentation or the soldiers copy of it often went back to their families, i would venture there are very few for sale that have actual documentation hence the prices are extremely over inflated and would make me question of just how authentic some of this stuff actually is , but thats my opinion

@@alexwarstory Молодец. Кляйн, кстати, самый крупный, самый рельефный, брутальный и красивый. Юнкер поменьше, но поизящнее. Ювелирка более тонкая.

Is it me or are these prices crazy high? I've seen some sweet badges at local shows that were no where close to these prices. If these are real, they look really nice. (Hope they are) :)

a good price for a rare RK, also the oak leaves are pricy too, now you'll get shock for the price when you stumble upon a RK mit eichenlaub mild condition. Even the price for an og RK case is high.

Yeah. The prices are really expensive. And no sign of them going down anytime soon. I’ve been collecting since 1993. From an investment perspective, I’m very happy. Not so much as a collector. I mostly collect Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe badges. But I also have some Army and SS items as well. Can’t afford anything now. Where can I find values of what I have. I was offered $10k for my waffen SS helmet. Amazing!

@@timcook7730 I just have two pieces EK2 and war merit cross civil, long ago i sold a M42 in a bad condition (no decals no og paint, some rust damage on the brim) in a very good price. Collecting 3R militaria is always a good investment if you don't want to keep it, shame is prices are going up, like housing lol when i'm able i'll get an EK1 and then stop. you have to find a balance with collecting and finances, lucky you with that helmet. regarding prices, try to look at detlev nieman, militaria berlin (those are german), VFMR orders and medals (spaniard store).

Yeah I don't like it either I'm trying to look at the medal but because some loser comes in and sees "the German No No cross" they scream and run away they have to put a sticker over it.

I think, the Schickle-Knights cross is a fake. Schickle did not produce items with marking "800" oder "835".

There are lots of fakes out there. Even honest dealers can be tricked. I thought that the recipient's name would be stamped on the reverse and that the medal would be numbered?

If you mean an SS honor ring, that has a skull and crossbones on it and a single S rune inside a triangle on either side of the skull, and swastika on the bottom, along with an engraving oh Heinrich Himmler inside the ring, you are in the 4-6k US range... IF it is authentic that is. Lots of reproductions out there. I almost bought one from my contact in Germany for 2K US and it was a named piece purchased from the original owners family. I've gotten many VERY rare items from my contact, all 100% authentic. My collection to date is appraised between 80-100k. Been collecting for years, and have a few extremely rare items.
