I saw that too. Additionally it seems like they're thinking the rope was really part of the gate mechanism and he'd get sucked in if he didn't transfer correctly because it's carrying the weight of the gate? I'll bet they were totally separate mechanisms. My first thought is that there's a counterweight on the other side of the rope, enough to keep it taut but not dangerous. Once he's at the top, the weight of the whole rope is on the other side of the wall so it falls through (should have tied a knot). That would be a simple effective mechanism without any danger.

For the Robin Hood clip, I’ve been told that they had the legendary archer Howard Hill (who also coached Errol Flynn in how to shoot a bow) actually shoot a bow with arrows at stunt men who had thick wooden boards hidden under their costumes. Howard Hill was such a good shot that he never missed (or so I’ve been told). One of the big upsides to filming (or taking photos) on actual film rather than digital. As long as you have the actual physical film left, and it has been taken care of over the decades, you will be able to remaster and upscale it to modern resolution sizes to that level of quality. Although, I do think digital has been catching up... used to be very difficult to do that with old low resolution things, but with the power of AI and what not it seems to have goten closer to how easy it is for stuff on actual physical film.

I love so much to see clips of the 1938 Robin Hood. I’ve been watching and loving that movie since my childhood. Especially as the scenes of Sherwood Forest were filmed in my home town of Chico CA!

I’d really like to see a Stuntmen React about Hot Fuzz. Not only is it a terrific comedy that manages to be a genuinely great action film, it has some phenomenally crunchy stunts. The car door hit and the flowerpot bonnet bounce during the town square shootout, for instance…

Well a lot of people beat me to it, but in the Robin Hood clip he was indeed hooked up to a clear line rig. You see the light reflect off it a few times as he ascends, and you can just barely make out how it's tugging the back of his clothes.

Love stuntman react. You all should REEALLY do Nina Assassin. They got super crazy stunts..the chase scene flipping over traffic. The last battle where he takes out like 5 guys with the chain sword.

When Robin Hood pulls himself up the gate, pay attention to the castle battlements and look closely, there you can see a wire that the actor is being pulled up on ;)

You should react to the TV show The Chosen. The special effects are so great and subtle for such a low budget. Very impressive.

It would be cool to see you react to the duel from "Potop", it's really good sword fight (tho technically it's sabers i think) Also for the VFX series you gotta react to the *last agni kai fight from ATLA.* It's so stunning! And *Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia!* Also at the end of second one there's a big water creature, so it might be cool to see what you think about that.

Have you guys ever reacted to the fight scenes in “Brotherhood of the Wolf” (Le Pacte Des Loups) with Monica Bellucci and Mark Dacascos?? I remember it having some really wicked fights and flips that looked like the actors were involved. Will have to look it up and see if it was as epic as my memory of it.

I love that movie. It does have some cool fights, especially the final one with that insane sword that broke apart into a flail, or something like that.

The guy falling onto that spear reminded me of a shot in Stargate SG1 where a guard is shot and tumbles down a 30ft cliff, after his spear fell and lodged itself in the rocks pointed directly at him. He redirected it right before he would have impaled himself on it. An amazing reaction that saved his life and the shot, a true hero.

7:08 do they see the wire above the rope?
@StrifeA2172 жыл бұрын
With the Robin Hood on the rope going up the castle wall if you look closely there is a wire going over battlements. You can see it bounce around in the sun light as he gets near the top. also the halberd looked like it was made of rubber when he hit it you can see it go pretty crazy.
@kodaspaws2 жыл бұрын
That spear was made of wood. They didn’t use rubber until the late 70’s

Errol Flynn was renowned for his athleticism so I’d love to know how much of his own stunts he performed

I watched The First Great Train Robbery from 1978 the other day, not overly stunt filled but it does have Sean Connery doing his own stunts walking along the roof of a speeding train and dodging low bridges. How many actors would do that nowadays? Maybe give it a look.

He's right when he says people can't remember a fight but they remember a moment. The fight between Achilles and Hector was absolutely not my favorite on screen fight but the behind the back move Achilles does with his spear and shield blew me away and Ill always remember it

Following Gui DaSilva's recommendation, I watched episode 1 of "Gangs Of London" with my boyfriend last night and daaamn it's like John Wick meets Peaky Blinders! Plus the fight with the big guy near the end was a hell of a Resident Evil boss fight lol so good and we gonna watch it all for sure. Thanks, Gui!

Guys! How did you miss the second wire in Robin Hood pulling him up?!
@Shp0ngIed2 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly! Well they were talking about him not being strapped to the rope, which he doesn't seem to be. The wire connects to the top of the structure, independent of the rope.
@igorferreira19992 жыл бұрын
In the robin hood clip where he is climbing the rope. You can see at the top that there’s a really thin almost transparent rope pulling him, it’s a bit safer than it actually looks. So there is a safety line.
