GX ducked behind the remains of his drop ship. The planet was supposed to be an easy conquest, rich in rare metals, populated by primitive aliens. But the humans resisted fiercely. The weapons damaged Kirok ships and their soldiers kept fighting. GX's battalion was pinned down, taking heavy losses. If GX failed, the humans would have time to form a coordinated defense. The Ciac Empire needed this planet's resources. GX growled into his comm, ordering all forces to advance and burn the primitive huts. The Kirok soldiers surged forward, their plasma rifles unleashing energy bolts. Humans scattered, many cut down, yet more emerged from the rubble. Captain Marcus Reynolds led them, renowned for unconventional tactics. Reynolds directed his troops with ease, turning the tide of battle. GX watched in disbelief as humans used the terrain to their advantage, setting traps and ambushing patrols. "Impossible," GX muttered. He refused to accept defeat and ordered all units to press the attack. The Kirok soldiers redoubled their efforts, pushing forward with renewed ferocity. In the midst of the melee, GX locked eyes with Captain Reynolds, recognizing him as a worthy adversary. Then, the battle raged on, with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance.
