John Smith just be careful because something like 67% of bikers carry guns (including me) so if you really are gonna run someone off the road for your mistake when they are usually not speeding like people believe (yes bikers speed but often times it’s hard for people to judge a bikes speed) just know that you’re gonna end up either with bullet holes riddling your car or your body 🤗

@Sean Paul Holloways are ancient. Some roads follow routes built by Romans. The squirly layout is all built on cart tracks not logical design for cars..... creating "character" but also inefficiency. There are many one lane roads in some regions, one lane bridges are common too etc.....

We have a bunch of roundabouts (we call them “rotaries”) here in Massachusetts, they’re actually pretty efficient when done right. Unfortunately, we have a lot of Massholes that drive around here, and they make it difficult for everyone else.

Chris, complicating matters further for me, is that I’d be trying to navigate Swindon from the right hand side of the road. lol Back in the ‘90s, I was driving an M-813 5-ton cargo truck around Perth, Australia while training there as a US Marine. Distracted by the song on boom box in the cab, I tried to take a right turn into the incoming lane. I realized what I was doing and corrected, but there happened to be a local police cruiser positioned perfectly to see the whole thing. I pulled over onto the left shoulder, and the officer climbed up on the right side of the truck. Aussies generally have great senses of humor, I’ve found, and he gave me a confused look while asking me what I was doing on this side of the cab. I grinned at him, said “one thing at a time, Officer; let me get used to driving on the wrong side of the road, first, and then I’ll concentrate on doing it from the wrong side of the truck.” He laughed, ended up telling me to be careful and welcome to Australia. lol

Round about are stupid and cause accidents because they are confusing to people. Some people don't care about the rules and force their way in instead of waiting to enter the round about. I know they are designed to keep traffic moving but some are death/accident traps. Had a round about removed close to my home and traffic moves better now since one direction has the right away and the less traveled direction now has two stop signs. Much less confusion and traffic moves better.

I'm sure they look more confusing then they are. If you were driving were they were, you'd be able to see the signs and road indicators saying which lane to be in in order to to safely navigate the circle. In my town, we have a two lane roundabout. The right lane will always exit right. Left will typically take you to the other 3 exits. Fortunately, for me too, we mostly have 2 lane roundabouts. I've seen 4-5 lane roundabouts and I'm not sure how the hell people navigate those safely. I'd be screwed.
