@hagenl.29753 жыл бұрын
@Falk M What do you do a shoulder check for? To get a 360 degree view around your car to spot every moving part around you? Definitely not, even though you are basically suggesting that. You are always checking the direction you are going in, that's why you shouldn't put yourself in dangerous situations by switching sides behind a vehicle, because shoulder check and mirrors don't provide a 360 degree view for every turn or lane change, they could but they're not meant to because you don't expect someone changing over the whole speedway in one go, which is dangerous driving and does matter a lot actually.

Car drivers will still find an excuse and say the guy at 7:57 was the biker fault
@joec20783 жыл бұрын
I ride a Ninja 650. Trucks fault from a legal stand point. However, in the description for the original video, the biker says they were not speeding. So you have bikes in each lane doing the speed limit. Truck likely saw this and moved to the left lane to pass but there were two bikers camping it, utilized some of the shoulder as well as the bikes small profile to pass within the same lane and likely only wanted to cut the biker off but clipped him instead. If going on a group ride, you don't own the road. You ride in formation in a lane. It's simple really. If you are in a big group (like a dozen or so), break up into smaller groups (no more than 6 per group) and stagger the departure of each group. Make sure everyone knows the route and knows where the next meet up is at in case of separation. Put the least experienced rider in front. Ride in proper staggered formation within one lane. Be ready and willing to split the group to accommodate traffic. As much as bikers want cars to share the road with them, they must be willing to share the road with cars.

Idk if anyone else noticed how ready the driver was. He knew a road rage incident should be recorded and was ready before it started, pointing out there was something to give the idea the rider approached to argue with him. The thing I really noticed was him pop open his center console (with his free, right, Hand) and he just started saying "calm down". You can never be too careful with the contents of the other vehicle being unknown.

@Lo0die33 жыл бұрын
brandon silvay ironically, you changing your focus, yelling, slowing down, etc is also a hazard to your life. By the way, it sounds like you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. I go into bike rides with assumptions that an incident might happen. Work harder to not allow that one foot incident... Try slowing down around intersections, merging vehicles, etc. Try not rapidly accelerating around cars typically going a similar speed to traffic. Slow down near slowed down traffic since they may be letting somebody turn across traffic or may be blocking the other cars vision also trying to turn. Don’t ride between two lanes when cars are moving in excess of 10 mph. You need to avoid the accidents as much as they do. People nearly hit my damn 6 1/2’ tall truck all the time. I do more to avoid that shit on my bike. Guess what? No accidents yet. Of course there have been close encounters however. No different than my truck except for I know I have less chance of surviving them so I focus on what people somewhat near me are doing. I don’t simply cruise and hope for the best.

@@flawlessw4120 the camera theft was VERY wrong, VERY WRONG! But, try to use these situations as life lessons. I see numerous videos of a--holes bicyclists riding all over the place, including sidewalks, and then getting into confrontations with pedestrians, so my suggestion is to steer way clear of pedestrians on sidewalks. I am 51 years old and sometimes (okay, oftentimes)😅short-tempered, but when I watch arguments on video between strangers, I sometimes get pleasantly surprised when one takes the moral high ground, and ends the argument with a compromise. Not like you can go back to change things, but where you could have had the moral high ground was when you asked about if you should be riding in the street and he said yes. You could have said something like, 'You are right, I shouldn't have been on the sidewalk'. Ended the argument there and ridden off. But you are young and nowadays, no one wants to lose a heated argument (like I said, I will most definitely not take my own advice and escalate situations as well). Just something to keep in mind. But physically, yes, treat sidewalk hazards as such and maneuver to the street to stay clear of them, including people willing to STEAL your property!
