Stupid loudmouth cyclist in stupid outfit

I stop to allow traffic filter in as there is a car on it's roof. A cyclist then has a go at me for stopping.
Loud mouth in Lycra, not a good look!

I cycle every day, and also ride a motorcycle. However, for obvious reasons, I choose not to ride wearing sunglasses on dull, murky winter days as I like to be able to anticipate accidents ahead.

I'm a cyclist, and that cyclist is a knob. I also drive a car and I'm tired of this tribalism. Bad people make bad drivers, bad cyclists and bad motorcyclists. Everyone should study the road ahead, anticipate the actions of others, be courteous and follow the rules, whatever they be riding or driving. They should also be extra careful for pedestrians and other more vulnerable road users because they can be killed or injured more easily. Nobody deserves to die for a moment of inattention. Be safe.

The rules of the road should be the same for all road users, and the punishments. Every road user should be registered and display that registration so they can be held accountable for their actions. The cyclists in this clip would then have been fined for unroadworthy bikes for a start.

I cycle, every day. I also drive. I don't define myself as a cyclist, I'm a person that cycles, just like that guy. I hate that all cycling and cyclists get a bad name because of turds like that. Cyclist told him not to stop in the road. But he stopped because the lane was blocked up ahead and cars were moving over. My guess is the cyclist wasn’t paying attention and nearly went into the back of him. So he decide to say something on his way past. Just an ignorant nob ed.

That's the truth .....so many I see have the attitude of car drivers have to watch out for cyclists then wonder why they end up under the wheels of a car. My friend experienced two ppl the other day in the U.K. who felt the new rules meant they could just walk out into the road and every driver had to be able to stop for them....what a big misinterpretation of the new rules because they both got run down. Thankfully his dash cam showed exactly what happened and he was fine. Cyclists apparently are doing the same. A driver can only react in the time he can and if the arrogant cyclists on the road think every driver is going to be able to react in time they're very wrong. I get it a lot here in the states....Cyclists take no notice of what's going on around them and cause no end of accidents simply because they feel they own the road and drivers have to work round them ....well I'll tell you something, if a cyclist causes me to have to react because of they're arrogant stupidity and I have my family in the car I can promise you the cyclist will be the one who comes of worse. I will not put my family at risk for a dumb cyclist.

I'd have done the exact same thing as you in that situation. Knowing that vehicles would have to pull into the bus lane - and closer to the kerb too to give ample space between themselves and that wrecked car - I wouldn't have chanced trying to go down the lane kerbside. Too much risk of being clipped and possibly knocked off. Rather not block the entire road by having an accident right next to an accident lol ;)

I've got disc brakes that pull up fast and I've practise brake and swerve for years. scared me but moreso the child. Mother apologised and I said it's ok. I am convinced that these helmets short out the brain . As a younger person I cycled for miles without being stupid or causing problems always being careful of traffic around me and stopping at junctions and traffic lights .Not pulling out of side roads without a care . But then I had a bike suitable for town use not some racing bike so I was sitting up and looking .Oh yes I also got stopped by the police for not having a working rear light at night even though there was a reflector .

I'm not sure what the problem was because I couldn't get a video of the situation from the cyclist's POV & I couldn't hear what the cyclist said either. I'm assuming the vehicles had themselves in such a way that the cyclist couldn't get by which happens all the time. Car drivers might say but we couldn't get through either. But that's because you're in a large chunk of metal that gives you minimal maneuverability. I'm assuming also that the cyclist couldn't get through on the left because of your vehicle or another was so far to the left & then you, for sure, didn't give him a way through on the right. The problem is cars pass bikes & then think (out of sight, out of mind?) the bike should wait behind them when they're stopped even though cyclists have the maneuverability to get through small gaps. If cars would just give cyclists the same consideration that they expect from cyclists these things might not happen. How? By looking in your rearview mirror & asking yourself if I was a cyclist, what would I want that car do to so that I can get through quickly just like you'd like cyclists to get over as far as (safely) possible so that you can get through quickly. It's just all about working together. If you comment, don't give me some generality about how cyclists don't get out of the way on the roads. That's a small minority or they don't pay road taxes, BLAH BLAH BLAH

Electric cyclists and electric scooters are the real terrors. I saw nothing wrong with the proper cyclists in proper bikes and clothing, there was definitely no need to stop just filter and pass by. Many proper cyclists on racing bikes and lycra are very experienced and can effectively read the road ahead.

Probably with e bikes it is faster to travel with less congestion. Problem is many cars are parking in cycle lanes because they got no where else to. This forces cyclists on to road to then swing back into the path. What you will see more of is Cyclops junctions but many drivers and cyclists don't know about them.

This section of road is near where I live and there is actually a separate cycle lane going both directions. Unfortunately it's rather bumpy, so most cyclists use the road.

I dodged, carpet, hub cap, drywall plaster, bedding gravel, shredded tyre, child's doll, lino tile, piece of wood all in a week's cycling. It's a war zone in some cycle lanes. Many have potholes and service covers and grates.

I don't understand why he ended up on the outside of you? The bus lane was totally clear, poor filtering too at the end with weaving from inside to outside, no shoulder checks. Also poor position on the roundabout hugging the outside passing several exit points.

you'll need to expand on that comment, to include the rest of the rule as it states the need to signal when doing it. this cyclist failed to even do that. the reality is that the cyclist has the wrong attitudes for the situation. that many emergency vehicles means something is going on, extra care, extra caution. slowing and be prepared to stop. NOT react the way the cyclist did.

Beard Cycle It may allow for it, but it's poor positioning, unfortunately incorrectly invites motorists to shut the door on you as they exit. Then see the cyclist weave to the outside without looking. If you are going to ride a primary strong oosition then do so, mixing it up with weak positioning and more importantly not signalling will just cause doubt and confusion and generaly animosity towards you.

Being on a bike I could see over the cars and noticed the lane was closed before they could see it, so if you watch the video again you will see I passed the knob, checked the mirror and pulled into the left hand lane leaving plenty of room for him to go through even though he was 30 yds behind me. I deliberately undertook the first car so that I didn't have to slam on my brakes and slowed to allow the cars in front to merge.

Driver is in the wrong....constantly over the line - only over take when safe to do so....if a cyclist is ahead of you and it is not safe to overtake then don't....wanting to get your destination quicker is not an excuse for not being safe....I am not a cyclist, a driver, I seen how other drivers react around cyclists so wouldn't want to put myself in that danger.....also, who was holding/changing the camera position? I hope it wasn't the driver as that wouldn't exactly be legal eh? Go get some driving lessons, anger management might be good for you too, you'll fell better after it, mate 😃

You know what I respect and watch extra for cyclists and motor bike riders but there are some arrogant inconsiderate self important ones out there that give all.bike riders a bad name. For example I was driving along a road when I noticed a cyclist up ahead ....as I approached I moved out into the middle of the road but as I did so the cyclist started swaying into the side walk and then into the middle of the road. He did this on purpose he wasn't watching the road. As I started to pass him he surged towards the middle of the road and closer to my car. We didn't connect so I carried on driving. The area we were in had slow speed restrictions and as I pulled into my drive way up behind me came the sane cyclist. As soon as I got out the car he started shouting abuse at me saying I nearly hit him. As I laughed at him he showed me what looked like a go pro on his helmet at which I responded that I was well away from him untill he started to swing out into the middle of the road ....liar he called me so I said let's have a look at your video recording them shall we? At which he refused I laughed at him again which seemed to upset him more bit when I said let's check out my dash cam and sort this out shall we? At which point he rode off ....Yeah he was caught out big time. Most motorists look out for bikes of all kinds but there are far to many cyclists out there that think we should drive for them, WRONG, they have as much responsibility for keeping the roads safe as any other motorists do. Do stupid things you will get hurt or worse and much of the time it'll be the cyclist fault. Yes a lot out there are arrogant enough to think they're the most important things on the road. Well that kinda thinking does them no favors and it makes them enemies and some drivers will tend not to give the respect decent cyclists deserve. So bad cyclists wake up grow up and man up....I will drive as carefully as I normally do but do something dumb expecting me to be able to save your life or serious injury won't always work ...past the point of no return even the best car driver cannot avoid hitting you and trust me if it's your fault my dash cam will show that and you'll get no sympathy from me Basically bad cyclists stop thinking your special and you own the road ...your not and you don't

@@forbello I'm fine just passionate about these cyclists who break most of the rules of the road then moan when they get knocked off. I've had it my self when a cyclist didn't even look when they came out of a junction and I knocked them off. Like it was my fault she went bat shit crazy. I respect cyclists to they act like they own the road and we should all drive to cater for they're stupidity. A valid point and also valid is if through they're neglect of the rules of the road they get knocked down just don't expect any sympathy from me. They've deserved it.

I think your move interested in slowing down to make sure you have it on camera rather than the cars in front. your on looking the other cyclist simply wants to get to were he is going.. your to blame that's why you stayed on right to make sure you camera view was not blocked by cars.
