Not an NBA player but one from Serbia: Boban Jankovic, with 8mins left in the game, the refs tagged him with an offensive foul after scoring a bucket. He proceeded to slam his head on the post in rage. It left him permanently paralyzed and confined him to the wheelchair for the rest of his life. Wife left him a few months after the injury then he ultimately died in 2006 at a young age of 42. Sad and tragic but completely avoidable.

Monta Ellis signed a 6 year, 66 million dollar deal. Something happened to him that made him violate the contract, and got suspended for 30 games. The Warriors sucked that year, earning them the 7th pick, which the team used to pick Steph Curry. Then the warriors won multiple championships, and basketball was changed forever. The crazy chain of events.

Hurt it with a casual lay up, where nothing weird happened. Should Rose have been in the game? No probably not. But Rose was a Ja Morant athlete, coming down HARD on one leg after almost every jump. Yeah that Greg story is kinda wrong. His first knee injury happened in the 6th grade he was never taken to the doctor. After it set and healed one leg was longer than the other creating a massive imbalance. Yes he got injured on the couch but his knees were made out of glass because his family couldn’t afford taking him to the hospital. Victim of circumstance if you ask me.

Example from soccer/football: Charles Akonnor, then playing for Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga, once missed three games because somehow he had managed to poke his car antenna into his nose (he was actually suspended because he took something to stop the bleeding that was on the list of forbidden substances). While not career-changing in any way, this little episode from 2001 still lives on in infamy :) Whenever I hear of weird injuries, this one immediately comes to mind.

As a Lakers fan, as much as I was frustrated with Bynum for being a headcase and turning into a bum, I don't blame him for this "stupid" injury. As far as I or anyone knows, it's not like he did a pirouette on the bowling lane or anything; he just bowled. If your body can't handle bowling, he was never going to be able to play basketball or practice without getting injured again. It usually takes more stress on knees just walking around the house than bowling. Same for Oden. Silly injuries, sure, but they weren't stupid, not like Tony Allen acting stupid and losing half his athleticism for foolish reasons.

I never understood players mentality once they become a "nba" player at a young age....loving the game and perfecting it long enough to "MAKE IT"......once they're there,they become stagnant not wanting to become a better player than they were before

Oden doesn't deserve to be on this list. It's not like he got injured doing something stupid, unless you consider getting up from a couch stupid. What is stupid is riding a motorcycle when your contract specifically says the team won't be liable if you get injured while riding a motorcycle, which is what happened to Jay Williams, #2 overall pick by the Bulls.

Undoubtedly some stupid injuries. But those are nothing compared to the multitude of truly idiotic baseball injuries. Let's see, getting injured playing video games, fixing a drone, falling asleep in a tanning bed, making a sandwich, and even tearing a LCL taking off shoes! Now don't get me wrong, baseball players are very talented (I think hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in all of sports), but they're not the most intelligent athletes...

The name is Omanse Rodriguez, a player from the Philippines, playing in PBA (Philippine Basketball Association). He is just a bench warmer, never had the chance to play at all but had the opportunity of his life to start for the very first time in his career. It's the jump ball, and as the two of them tapped the ball, he stepped on the opposing player's foot and suffered an injury right away. In total, he experienced being a first five for the first time in his career for just under a second 🤭🤭🤭🤭

I'm from Detroit and Darko was garbage from the start. His hand was the excuse to save face for being the worst pick in nba history. Some one direct me to the highlight footage to verify why he was even considered nba ready/ talent. I haven't seen none. Detroit was bought that year. Ain't no way you overlook Melo, or Chris Bosh.

He needs to be traded. Yes Barton stop pointing and talking to the others on the court to guard your assignments. You are not a leader. You are not the number one option. You are not a quality playmaker. Far too many mistakes. Turnovers, controlling the ball too long into the shot clock then forcing Jokic to take bad shots with second left, not knowing his defensive assignments. This hinders the team overall. The fact that Malone doesn't see this is even worse. Malone is predictable with his play calling, rotations and adjustments. everything is on a time frame not a players production throughout the game. Both should have never been offered extension until after the playoffs.

That’s not the reason Greg oden has knee problems. His problem is that one of his legs are shorter then the other the doctors could have fixed it when he was a kid but because he was so tall no one could have noticed the pressure from the longer leg effected the shorter one that’s what happened
@whlteshadow9570

Ironically, Greg Oden got used to playing like this, but the Blazers gave him some equipment that essentially made his shorter leg the same length as his normal leg and that lead to the injuries

No the Tony Allen dunk was a normal continuation move that one should make even after a whistle. Sometimes the refs count those move as legal continuation and allow the score. It was just very unfortunate he tweaked his knee.
