Innse cat they would have spoken Gaelic in the islands at various hermitages.Even in the faroes and Iceland,the main language would hae been pictish. The norse influence was only for 600years ? According to the census over 50%!hae shetlaun dialect o Scots.

Gaidhlig was widely spoken at the hermitages on innse cat ! Before the Norse invasions! Shetlaun a dialect o Scots is mainly now spoken in the eelans!the many writings of ogham depicts a Gaelic past!
