Actually a great tool that you will use more than you realize once you use it once.

On my cars I use a drain valve. It is even better. There is no need to unscrew, work the thread, risk cross threading, etc. From time to time make sure it is still installed snug. Thanks for sharing!

Used on every oil change I do for the last 5 years. Well worth the money.

That is a great tool! I've had it for a long time now, so long that I have the original 5911 (without the A). The change they made when rev'ing up to the A was the removeable head. On mine you cannot separate the magnetic head from the shaft. I've never felt that I needed that feature and in fact I like the idea that it does not come apart. Either way, a great tool for keeping hot oil from running down your hand and not dropping the drain plug.

This is a good example why I wanted a Toyota Tacoma, genius designs, literally the lowest part of the oil pan has the drain plug. You would think other manufacturers would do the same thing

And the oil filter sticking up at the top of the engine.

@@lastbesttool that’s amazing, unfortunately I had to get a vehicle fast and ended up with a 17 f150 for a good deal but my next is going to be a Tacoma for sure, when you going to do a video on yours? I like Toyota trucks

Doc, you need a Stahlbus drain plug. Amazing quality German engineering in the last part you'd expect.

Nice! I’m getting one for my 4Runner!
@lastbesttool2 жыл бұрын
When I use it on my 09 4 Runner, I often hit the side of the pan cover splattering oil a little. The springiness can pop the plug sideways hitting something. The trick is to choke up on the tool to control it when free.

I've been thinking about getting these for a while and when looking at different options I noticed they make a couple kits for this now. It has the handle with different adapters. OTC 5961 Drain Plug Pro Tool Kit OTC 5961HD Heavy-Duty Drain Plug Pro Tool Kit

This is probably the sort of thing I would use if I started auto maintenance today, but after being a lube tech at a place for a few months, unless it’s a diesel I’ll just deal with it. Lol Good vid nonetheless.

I got this about a year ago and when I went to change the oil in my new truck, it was a plastic 180 degree turn drain pan plug. So it was useless unless I wanted to try installing a metal drain plug.
@rbeamz8842 жыл бұрын
I've had that for a couple years now it's a great tool but I noticed the magnet part kept coming off onto the drain plug. So it's now permanently glued on 😃. The 1/4 inch part is pretty much useless anyway.
@doogoodminds81572 жыл бұрын
Napa has a Carlyle tool like this for 15 bucks.. it doesn't have the 1/4 drive or detachable head. The magnet did come out.. but, a small dab of epoxy and its been great! That 1/4 drive might come in handy But, not sure if i would want the head to be removable.. hate to loose it! Thanks for the info!🖖

I’ve thought of gluing the head on the driver for that reason.

The cable is pretty flimsy. Maybe in some applications.
@bradbeck26012 жыл бұрын
I imagine if the drive cable is too stout it would put too much side load on the plug and you'd have more issues with it binding as it came out.
