@@angelemerald1 Really? Thats shockingly weird? I would have thought Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, the Eagles or even Bob Dylan would have that. Their music was at times a mix between the 2 genres

Dude straight up said "let's get weird" and drops this masterpiece of an album along with an amazing anime. Classic Sturgill melody & howl meets ZZ Top grooves and retro Synthwave ambience. How many other musicians out there have the balls to experiment like this anymore? Sturgill & the band got my eternal respect.

1st- I never said it was a country album or that Simpson was locked in some kind of stylistic box. I was actually implying the opposite. 2nd- its a fact that he has been a country artist most of his career. While this album is more rock and roll than his usual, his country music influence is all over this album, particularly in his singing style.

You made a new fan with this one sir. So glad to have discovered you through this movie/album. Used to say I didn't like country. You have ensured that I will never speak those words again. Keep kicking ass! Turtles all the way down 🤘

Definitely has a little bit of that vibe. Heartbeat bass lines and fuzzy solo lines and spacey synth stuff.

Yo if they still jammed as hard as they used to it'd sound something like this.

This album is my intro. to Sturgill Simpson. So far he's my new favorite musician. This song has a Bad Company kinda sound to it.

It has been a long time since I basted a song, let alone a full album on repeat. Literally the only songs I've been listening to since this came out! Time to buy some extra mags and a bugout bag!
