Thanks very much for this video. I agree it's really expensive at £25 but I'm probably going to get it as part of a deal with Echo Show 8 where it's only an extra £10. I've had a look at other similar type devices and you can get something that does the same thing at around the £8 mark but I'm happy to pay an extra £2 for it to have the functionality with other Amazon devices. Also, I think it's a trust thing that I should be able to rely on Amazon.

I have to admit I was shocked at how quickly the plug I purchased paired. I'd recommend it for low power items. The ones I purchased were $5 sales through the Alexa Show.

It looks like Amazon already set this up to work with your WIFI, same way they can set up additional Echo devices if you purchase directly from them.

Just ordered one in the Black Friday Sale and used an additional discount code, to reduce it to £7. Not bad! If you have more than one in the same room, would you just name them and use a voice command like, "Alexa, turn on Plug 1"? I want this for fans in my workout room, so using the Alexa app with sweaty mitts wouldn't be too pleasant!

That’s right - you give them all individual names (Usually name them by the name of the appliance it’s connected to).

Well it really depends on the quality of the internal components and the durability. If it lasts a lifetime and it’s safe then it’s cheap! What price ‘peace of mind ‘?

Too expensive when there are cheaper, and probably just as reliable ones on the market. Also I can see the shape of it causing issues if your socket is low on the skirting board.

I'm 31 and I don't get it.... so you buy a plug....to stick into a plug.... to plug into another plug.... to turn on your lamp...... that has a switch.....that works when plugged into a wall... And this thing costs how much???.... Don't get it. People are crazy.

Because people want the convenience of controlling their home without having to get up and turn switches on? Because people want their homes to be smart and set routines to control their entire houses at the press of a button or simple command? Because it’s 2020 and we’ve moved forward from VHS, penny farthings and coal driven engines.

@@StusReviewsUK all the light switches in my house are beside doors, or couches. Don't need to move anywhere to turn them on. Also, surely it takes longer to plug in the plug, turn on your phone, pair it to the thing... then it actually does to just click a switch lol. I'm not arguing about it, I just don't get it is all.
