I hope everyone knows that you can play music from your phone to the stereo pair and the sub. and every echo device in your home. It's very easy to setup as long as all of the devices are on the same wifi network. I have never been able to bluetooth to more than any one device at a time from my phone. You can setup 2.1 stereo sound. You can setup an everywhere group. You can include the 2.1 stereo into the everywhere group.

I really do like the look of the original Echo/Echo Plus units, but I also think that the sandstone Echo Plus unit looks very handsome, really attractive, I only worry about what they'll look like after you've had them for a while and they've picked up a bit of airborne dirt and dust. Hopefully they're easy to clean.

Just run a soft hairbrush over them and they come up like new - I have one plus and three gen 3 dots in the oldest dustiest house in the world and it's fine. :)

Heya Stu. Well what can I say? After watching your video on the Amazon Sub I decided to buy one. I am pleased I did watch your review as I was prepared for the arduous task of getting it to work. Oh my goodness what a lot of faff it was! The Amazon App picked it up straight away and a room pair was made. But the sub still did not work. Grrrr. It really was why doesn't it work? Eventually after looking at the Amazon help page, it turns out you have to connect the sub to the router as well as the app. Now we have success! Time taken, 20 minutes! But it was so worth all the hassle because it sounds amazing! At low volumes, it reinforces the sound the Echo gen 3 doesn't quite have. But at higher volumes it can shake the walls and windows! Absolutely fabulous. I am a happy bunny bouncing all round the living room 😀😀 Thanks for your review and keep up the good work. Lisa xx

You can cast Amazon Music and Spotify to your Echos and it should play through them all. With Spotify you'll have to pay for premium though.

Yeah it was a bit of a pain! I think it was down to all the devices needing a ‘day 1’ update- but did it without telling you it was doing it. Possibly a simple fix, and possibly not a problem we will see in devices manufactured after the launch date.

Heads up, Echo Plus has been discounted by 47% ($80 US dollars) this past week and Amazon Prime Day I believe is scheduled for August which can make some huge impacts as well. Mid July 2020 as of now I expect Amazon to promote their devices during Prime Day and do some x-mas shopping and IF you spend enough all echo devices should be discounted even more.

Crap forgot to say if you do not need a Zigby home hub the 3rd Gen Echo is only 70 US - $10. Also comment on the video,.. Subpar or over extended routers are an issue with any device when it comes to connectivity , probably should have mentioned that

seems crazy that you need an echo plus, another echo plus and a subwoofer, it makes the expensive part of one of them obsolete, why can't amazon do an echo plus companion speaker without all the unused expensive tech inside so you only have one plus to control them.

Great speakers, a few foibles. Paired up, you have to update the software individually on each speaker, and it won't integrate with TIDAL in the UK. I'm on the case.......

That looks like a hard setup. Lots of people have had trouble setting them up. Honestly, I would just get a Logitech Z623 and an echo dot and hook it up to that to avoid the hard setup (thats what I did in my living room). Wonder how the logitech would sound compared to the echo 2.1 setup Great review and video.

Since it's possible with some Bluetooth speakers such as the UE Boom to pair multiple speakers together for stereo sound, it would in theory be possible to play sound to 2 Echo units via Bluetooth, but it's more complicated because I suspect the Echo Sub has Wi-Fi only and no Bluetooth, and there may be audio lag issues introduced into the system if you were able to pair them all up to the same device via Bluetooth. Have you asked Amazon/sent feedback to them about stereo/2.1 Bluetooth audio playback? It personally wouldn't bother me too much as I'd far rather use Alexa/Wi-Fi music streaming to my devices, rather than Bluetooth, but I can see the problem for some. Have you used a pair of Google Max speakers before? If you have, do you know if you can use 2 Max speakers via a Bluetooth connection to one host device?

I think because there has been quite a few reviewers who have published content about the Bluetooth, they’ll get the hint quote quick! And no, I’ve not yet tried the google max!

OK. I also understand that if you set the audio socket on the Echo Plus to input mode, you can only have music playing on one speaker, as is the case with Bluetooth connections. If Amazon were to allow stereo playback when feeding audio into the Echo Plus via the audio cable, there will be lag, no questions asked, because the unit would be sending audio over your wireless network, so the Echo devices really aren't great for playing audio from a TV or video game system etc.

So what’s your opinion of the New Echo Plus vs the Echo gen 2. Is there a very noticeable difference between the two. I currently run 2 echo gen 2 in stereo and will get the sub but thought the bundle deal is a good option.

The sound IS better than the gen 2, but not significantly. If you’re going to get the bundle though- that’s where it makes a BIG difference!

Stu, what app on your phone were you trying to BT from? Was it Amazon Music? Ahhhh, just occurred to me, what BT version are you using? BT 4.x can only pair to 1 speaker at a time... But, BT 5.0 can pair to 2 speakers, just not in stereo. Can you not connect through wifi?

Do you have a mesh Wi-Fi system or a router that combines your 2.4 and 5GHz networks? That was my issue getting them all connected because they weren't on the same network technically due to the same network name for both 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz. Once I separated the networks, they all worked great!

Just buy one amazon echo / plus, buy Tibos pa 150 power amplifier, add a Nobsound pre-amp and something like Wharfdale Diamond speakers, or a good pair of floorstanders, you will have a truly awesome system, you won’t even need the sub woofer. Or simply shove the output into you hi fi amp and away you go, give it a try.

Could you just group the speakers then play via bluetooth for that group. I do this with my upstairs and downstairs echos (different rooms but same theory) and play from my phones spotify app. The group appears under device playback (Samsung phone)

If streaming music to an Amazon Echo speaker uses on average 1Mb of data per minute of music would this double if I were streaming to two echo's set up as a stereo pair? Yes, I believe it does. You can feed an audio signal in and it broadcasts it to the other speakers.

Amazon needs to get their act together and provide for stereo playback from any connected device. Otherwise the money spent on a pair of Echo + is literally down the drain. When can we expect a solution (firmware update) to address this bummer? Anyone any guesses.

I wish you could do stereo pair with bluetooth. I have 2 identical bluetooth speakers they even support being ran as left and right but only with the HK application on android. If I pair them to each other manually then its dual mono but echo cant use both through it's own hardware. I can only manually pair them to each other and have dual mono which is fine for parties but not for TV.

Now comes my plea for help in return for my positive response to your review... I really liked the music you played from TuneIn and found the station on my TuneIn app. But even though I use TuneIn regularly on my echos Alexa keeps saying that “Lagunas-no-copyright-music” doesn’t exist on TuneIn, help! I really do want to hear the station through my echos but Alexa is being a bit*h and denying me that pleasure. Any tips you may be able to offer to solve the problem would be really appreciated. Hit that subscribe button and you’ve got a deal. I could only get it to play through going through Alexa app first. Go to the app, then press ‘play’- ‘browse music’ - ‘tune in’ - type in the search field ‘no copyright’ and it should appear top of the list. BE WARNED. it definitely is copyright, so I found out when I tried to monetise this vid! 😂 It’s a bit tricky to get to- but you’ll get there. I just checked that now to see if it works, and if you follow that you’ll get to the station 👍

Unfortunately not! The three wont pair up to act as audio from a television. You could use one at a time... but you'd get better audio from a dedicated soundbar if youre watching TV!

Sonos offers the Sonos One for all Alex/Echo capabilities - that's probably their answer... I have both Sonos Play 1 & Sonos One speakers and the most annoying thing is you can only pair the same types for Stereo: Sonos Play 1 + Sonos Play 1 = Stereo | Sonos One + Sonos One = Stereo | Sonos Play 1 + Sonos One = No Stereo

Paul Curtis I tried using the in line method into my play 5 and it does the job of having complete echo functions on a better sounding speaker..but my OCD hates the extra cord lol. I do hope amazon allows SONOS to offer the full feature set to its Alexa capable devices. Having an SONOS beam and a echo in the same room is just crazy in my opinion

You can only connect one device via Bluetooth. It's always been that way with any product. It's a shame they couldn't use a splitter for plugs. You need three plug sockets.

Well this is the thing- yes you can only do audio streaming to one device- BUT, why can’t the echo then send that stream to a second echo, very much how wireless Bluetooth earbuds work? It is absolutely possible, and if cheap Chinese earbuds can do it... amazon could’ve definitely implemented it, or even thought of a better way of doing It!

Lmfao!! What the hack is FAFF?! You're hilarious. Maybe they've made improvements in the last 5 months but my pair had been operating in the house a few weeks before I actually paired them, and pairing them was easy and first time... And you're right they sound awesome. Placing them can make a big difference as well. Think of a guitar, how is it constructed? The bigger a hollow space you can make resonate the more OOmph you're gonna get out of them. First your desk, meh. Then your basement, WOW? But please spare your downstairs neighbors :)
