@@stuviewtv I remember Star Maidens from fist viewing in 1976 aged 7, it was shown on Saturday before Dr Who on Anglia TV and I mainly remember it for having Gareth Thomas Roj Blake from Blakes Seven in it as Shem and also for the theme music. I was shocked it never got released on vhs in the UK, and was only released on vhs in Germany. Star Maidens has been since released on dvd worldwide, and I have the dvd and also I learnt some of the locations and sets were used in other sci-fi series the sets were from Space 1999 and the locations cropped up in Blakes Seven. Star Maidens was shown in over 60 countries including the US but in the US it was not shown in 13 episodes but as a 2 part feature film with most of Gareth Thomas Shems bits cut out of the film.

Only four episodes were ever made - it had a similar format to such series as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and even Hotel, inasmuch as three otherwise unconnected stories were told across one episode, all of which were resolved by the end of the episode - in the case of Time Express, the concept was that three unrelated and unconnected characters were given the chance to go back in time and change certain events in their past! And that was about it! Vincent Price and his real-life wife, Coral Browne are the main protagonists of the series - had it progressed beyond the four episodes, it would have been a bit like Fantasy Island, and had loads of people from old television series that were still living at the time trying to fix their characters’ pasts, whilst not altering real historical events like preventing the two World Wars, or making Germany win or the world blow up!

Hello Stu, thank you for another amazing video, what an education. Some of these shows I have never heard of, but was cool to see & learn about them. There are some programmes that I do recall, but haven't thought of in donkey's years, like ' Automan' & ' Time Express'. I really wish that ' Time Express' would have been a success, it was a great concept & since I was a boy I have always liked anything with actor Vincent Price in it. " Children Of The Stones" I watched on KZbin about 10 years back, even as an adult it was disturbing. I am sure ' Children Of The Stones ' was broadcast on CBC Canada, I never saw it back i the day, but I remember reading controversial reviews about it, when I was a teen. I loved 'Tripods'. In 1985 the Vancouver British Columbia " Knowledge Network" had " Tripods' on late afternoons, after school programming I guess. I had my first VHS recorder / player then, so while I was at work, the VHS machine recorded 'Tripods'. Also on "The Knowledge Network", after ' Tripods', I taped the first season of 'Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends' when ex- Beatle Ringo was the narrator, & some UK show that I can't recall the name of, about a teenage boy & girl helping some old codger to revive a steam train on some down on it's luck heritage railway. Anyone remember what that series was called, jeez, I can' t think of it's name almost 40 + years later. Anyway, sorry to ramble on. Thanks Stu for your fabulous & nostalgic videos. I actually found the soundtrack to Star Maidens on CD a few years back - what a weird series! But I loved the music! Why we got two very different Invisible Man TV series in the 70s, I will never know, but the 50s British TV series was better than both of them combined. The special effects were good, and they never revealed who played the Invisible One until two decades later. Love it. I actually loved Automan. It was an interesting high-tech cop series, and it didn't forget to have a good sense of humor. Still, Desi Arnaz Jr?

I heard The invisible man did ok on the ratings, it was cancelled because the special effects cost too much. Which is why they made The Gemini man was made, the simple button on a watch and disappear was much cheaper for the production costs but it was never as popular as The invisible man. It was pulled before it finished it's run so it was years later that the last 2 episodes where shown in the US but luckily in the UK we got the whole series:) . Only a couple of those I haven't seen, and loved all the rest. Quatermas was wonderfully bleak. It's also worth checking out Star Fleet project by Brian May and Eddie Van Halen. Brian's kid loved the programme, so he covered the theme tune, brilliantly.

For years I tried to remember the title of 'Time Express' and would try and jog the memory of my friends in pre-internet days. "A bit like Fantasy Island, but with a train, " I would ask them. I was surprised to learn it only ran for four episodes.

The Planet of the Apes TV series is infinitely better than the modern movie series. I seem to remember everyone trying to swim like Patrick Duffy when Man From Atlantis was popular. Re: Star Fleet, Brian May recorded a mini-album dedicated to the series.

these days, we've all seen the historical account documenting the location of Atlantis, in north Africa, now widely believed to be the eye of the Sahara, among people who believe it ever existed, though the writer is believed creditable i actually remember watching the invisible man, the year i was born, must have been a repeat. Planet of the apes was re-re-rerun, because i saw that too
