haha, spoiler alert (I just rewatched seasons 1-4 the last couple of weeks and was about to start in on 5) ... and it would not be surprising at all that when this song came out last fall, the writers for Bojack looked at each other and said 'we *have* to find a way to use this for next season'

As someone who grew up in Los Angeles, this song hits in such an incredible way. It’s surreal, terrifying in a way, it captures the vibe of existential dread and dystopic “flawless living” that is so prominent in LA. Driving down the 405 to this song and it really feels like it’s the city’s theme song. I love Annie so much.

@@robdickerson4627 I don’t disagree that LA is incredible. It’s also dystopic in a way as I said in my comment, but it can definitely be two things. I have a mixed relationship with LA but I’m also grateful that I’m an Angeleno - the LA citizens who aren’t the superficial “LA stereotype” are some of the best you’ll ever meet and I’ve been ‘round the world.

A bit of trivia: The green slime is a reference to Nickelodeon whilst the feet are a reference to Dan Schneider who abused many child stars at Nickelodeon. Specifically the line "in Los Ageless, mothers milk their young" in reference to Jennette McCurdy among other child stars who have been exploited by their parents who were complicit in the abuse by men like Dan Schneider.
