Man, this video nailed it, it perfectly shows what Burzum's music is all about, not trying to sound brutal o super complex, just dark and emotional music, showing that there's no need to play 13123 notes per minute to maka a beautiful song.

Music is sound, plain and simple. Believe it or not, but not every one plays an instrument so technique doesn't mean shit to them and it shouldn't matter unless the actual song sounds good as well. Is it better to have a technical song with no feel or just a jerk of session on guitar just showing of. Music is not a math game, its about creating a sound that resonates with some one. Should some one just resent what they like because some elitist fuck says so. fuck you. Techniques are but tools to get a certain sound, nothing more. If you are technical for the sake of being technical whats the fucking point? Oh yeah you can play well, but cant use your own skill to make something worth listening to.

There are plenty of more riffs that would of course fit into this compilation but I had to choose and I selected my personal top ten. The song can be seen separately in my channel if you'd like to see it.
@bgpivoter10 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have a nice collection of covers on your channel, keep it up, I just thought that that single riff was too iconic for black metal in general to skip. However, I do see your point so I'm not complaining. Do you happen to have your own one-man band by the way?
@Stvn233710 жыл бұрын
***** I did record some personal tracks with every instrument played by me but I never published it anywhere except for the song "The Journey" which is also in my channel. Beside that I play in a live band.
@bgpivoter10 жыл бұрын
Stvn2337 Aha, cool. I gave the song a listen, it's really good. I'm somewhat of a session/live guitarist too but I prefer doing my own stuff as the metal scene in my area is rather dead. It's not a bad thing having a solo project, though, you could have some future success with one.

***** I think it would be a good idea to wait until my KZbin channel is a little bigger to use it as promotion when I upload my personal records. The band I play in is fairly successful. I've never been a fan of black metal. Vonsidering the genre isn't really known for melody, but Burzum has so much melody and that's what hooked me. Simple guitar riffs that work like a charm.
@demandtheman355110 жыл бұрын
Beginner guitarist here, and oh my god you've figured out the very last riff to Dunkelheit!!! So simple, yet every single cover and tab out there just plays the main riff that goes throughout the song instead. It only took 18 years before someone nailed it :D

On a little sidenote, I suspect he uses all 6 strings on the last hit on the recording (3-5-5-3-3-3 instead of 3-5-5), but honestly the latter sounds better with proper quality recording.
