Bob Holly was always crazy underrated IMO. He always had something too that very few if really anyone today has, and that's a mystique surrounding him, an aura, which creates believability. Maybe not so much when he was Sparky Plug since that was a goofballish gimmick, but once he ditched that he was money. I especially really dug his feud with RVD years later. It's crazy that when you look back, a good majority of wrestlers from the prior generation REALLY stand out now, since today's talent just can't match up, aside from being more athletic/acrobatic. They fail in literally every other area miserably, minus the very few who really "get it", like Brock & Punk.

I really enjoyed that Tag Title angle with Bob Holly and 123 Kid. They used San Diego Chargers (Holly and Kid) vs San Francisco 49ers (Bam Bam and Tatanka) Super Bowl matchup as a way of explaining the story so as a kid getting into sports the underdog story worked. Great episode guys! Bob Holly best damn dropkick in the business.

Mr Howard was my neighbor in the late 80’s early 90’s before he got on with WWF. Very nice guy, I think he was the champion of the local wrestling company. We actually lived in Theodore, AL which is right outside of Mobile, but still in the Mobile County. I always wondered if he got his gimmick of the nascar guy (sparky plug) by us living so close to a race track. On Saturday’s you could hear them from where we lived. He had a big trampoline in his backyard which was rare in that time and would let the neighborhood kids come over and jump on it. When they moved away he let my brother and me have it. It needed a new tarp and springs but still cool. We had battle royals on it and boy i’m glad parents aren’t like they are now with suing people, because kids got hurt all the time getting thrown off that thing.

I was kind of crossing my fingers and toes for Crash Holly. One of these days I hope. I imagine that will be a 4 to 5 hour classic full of controversial content. I am dying to hear how the gimmick of carrying the scale to the ring came to be and just where did they find that scale? Was it a gimmicked scale so Crash didn't collapse under it on his way to the ring? I don't think scales are us was open yet. And what was Molly really up to? How did the idea come about for her to become Mighty Molly and how upset was Crash? Why wasn't their a full drawn out feud with Spike Dudley? I can't wait. It is gonna be a juicy one. I know the allegiance of Holly fans are just waiting like a rabid pack of Wolves to lap up that long overdue topic. I hope they give it enough time or do a seperate Molly Holly show. I've got goosebumps already.

I went to Mobile once to get my dad, we stayed at a Holiday Inn for 2 nights and me and my older brother (14 & 16) got our own room. Any parents out there DON'T do this EVER! We figured out we could stop the elevator between foors, lock it with the back access door open and explored the staff only area for hours one night, the next night we ventured out and explored that area of mobile. We told our little brother about it and of course he was begging to come explore. He was stuck with mom and dad, I can feel his pain😂

Great episode. Holly may not have been Hogan or Austin, but he was with the company a long time during some of the highest and lowest periods of WWE. And the notion that Holly wasn’t big enough isn’t true. By 1999, Holly was jacked and not coincidentally, started getting his biggest push. He even admits in his book that he juiced and I believe gave his cycle.

This is great, the story of a true wrestler.....I love all these podcasts but this here about bob holly...damn, we all glamour over the big stories, finger poke of doom, goldberg, rock, russo... whatever....this one about bob holly is GREAT.....just a start to finish story about a real wrestler, not the biggest star and not the smallest star. Just how a wrestlers story can go from the beginning to the end of their career. Bob holly isn't your stone cold or hulk Hogan. But damn man, he is a wrestler and only fans of wrestlers are listening to 3 or more hours of single topic subjects about wrestling. Conrad with prichard, Tony, and bischoff with their podcasts have changed everything. Its evolved all wrestling interviews from kc commentaries

With regards to Bob Holly's being paid low in Memphis, MANY other wrestlers (except for Jeff and Jerry Jarrett, Jerry Lawler, and Bill Dundee) also got lowballed in pay in Memphis. Jeff Jarrett (according to Bruce Prichard) even taunted one of them about the latter's paycheck, saying "Keep staring at it, boy. It ain't going to make it no bigger!" That wrestler's name was Steve Austin--yes, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin; Austin remembered that for a LONG time, so much so that he REFUSED to work with Jeff Jarrett when Jarrett was in the WWF from 1997-1999 (and Austin was one of the top wrestlers in the WWF, if not the biggest at the time)...

I wasnt thrilled about this episode at all but actually was really good. Here’s my thing tho,why is the Jerry Jarrett burial taken as fact but the Dusty/Cody story is taken as far fetched and unbelievable. Dusty telling his son to outshine the veteran jobber in a tag match doesnt sound far fetched or bad (unless you’re Bob) at all and really just sounds lk Dusty schooling his kid. If Cody wasnt getting over and Bob,who admittedly was a steady mid carder at best, I can imagine a pro like Dusty saying “you gotta just take the lead, baby, show the ppl you’re worth the money or go home.” I am a Cody and BIIIIIIIG time Dusty fan btw.

This turned out to actually be a great episode. I wasn't expecting all that much going into it & I was thinking how good of a show can you make about Bob Holly? I was expecting to hear a bunch of stories about what an asshole he is & a bully in the locker room, but come to find out it was just the opposite of that. I mainly wanted to hear about what happened in the Tough Enough episode when he kicked the shit out of Matt, but It sounded like MTV just wanted the show to be more dramatic & after hearing what Bruce had to say, that it wasn't such a big deal afterall. I got the feeling that Bob is actually a decent guy who just loves the business & wanted to make sure that the Tough Enough kids had the same respect for the business that he has. He had no problem just doing his job & putting guy's over for most of his career with some success, but not a ton. I was also surprised to hear how loyal he was to Vince & how he turned down an offer from WCW that would have doubled his salary. I have a new outlook on Bob Holly now & a newfound respect for him also. I was surprised to find out that he his not an asshole or a bully. Another great show from Bruce & Conrad, they knocked it out of the park & made a show about Bob Holly way more interesting than I thought they ever could.
