@@anthonybranchii263 For sure coming in even below the 205 weight limit was an error, but there has to be more nuance to it. He was easily controlled on the ground, and wasn't able to get off offensively as he normally does. I do agree with you on the weight discrepancy though. I posted in a previous video that he probably needs to bulk up to around 212lbs and then cut from there. He has a big frame, so it's doable. Holyfield at that weight was able to hang with guys 240+ lbs. Different sport, sure, but the same principles apply. His striking would be dangerous with more weight behind it.
@madgavin75683 жыл бұрын
@@atlscribe It may simply be due to physical attributes as well. Compared to all of Izzy's previous opponents Jan had the longest reach, and wasn't that far off Izzy's size in terms of height either whilst also being stronger and heavier. Being longer helps with jabs and kicks, and Jan was able to connect with those consistently. Aside from weight I don't think Izzy did very many things wrong in that fight, Jan was simply on his level and the better fighter that night with a great game-plan. More attention should be focused on what Jan did right versus what Izzy did wrong, especially when it came to striking defence. Izzy fought a bit more cautiously as he had to be wary of the Polish Power, the fight was unchartered territory for him so he couldn't get careless.
@packpock43693 жыл бұрын
Simple it was the size difference. Jan is a damn beast he is the champ for a reason. It has to do with environment, that Polish mental toughness, they're hard people. Like Khabib they're made of something different. Jan doesn't oversimplify thing's. He doesn't throw unnecessary shot's, he want's to take your head off.

The part about breaking Costa's illusion of himself was reeeeally interesting, strongly shows that surrounding yourself with an aura of invencibility is really dangerous, by trying cast away any doubt it can make you blind for reality. In some sense feeling fear, feeling insecure, lacking, can be a good thing! Like George St. Pierre said "training with the fear that my opponent is training harder than me". This pushes you to not rest on your laurels or become complacent. P.S. i though it was going to be an analysis of the fight but it was interesting anyway.
