Wishing you a powerful journey. Hair is more important than we believe. My daughter went through a couple of hair losses-- she was a 2 time leukemia survivor (at 11 and 19). I shaved my head in solidarity-- and it was soooo hard for me! I can't imagine how it is when you don't have a choice. But it meant the world to her! Thanks for letting us share in your celebration of it now.

Bless you - I went through chemo as you can see from my pic. I was glad to shave my head instead of it falling out in clumps. You are beautiful from the inside out. Love and big hugs as you beat the disease. I'm 6 years off treatment .. never give up hope.

Sweetie keep up the great attitude. It’s part of getting through this whole mess sanely. I had breast cancer w 4 rounds of chemo. Day 12 it started falling out so I took control and had my son shave it all off. A bit traumatic but I had a wig so wasn’t too bad. That was in 2004. 2005 I became cancer free. Thank you God. I will pray for you. If you ever want to talk, I’m a good listener.

For those curious, chemotherapy is a cancer therapy in which chemicals target rapidly growing cells. Which would be the cancer. Unfortunately, chemicals don’t know what is cancer and what is normal, but fast, cell growth. Which would be your hair. So the chemotherapy targets the hair cells as well and it’s why peoples’ hairs fall out. It’s not worth it to have hair and just have random strands everywhere so it’s just best to shave it, and after the therapy regrow your hair. On the bright side! There are some many advancements in cancer treatment going on right now that is insane! Colon cancer was treated in a clinical study and ALL the participants (albeit from a small sample group) were cured from their cancer by just taking a pill! No chemo, no balding, and painless! Unfortunately BECAUSE we do not have a free healthcare system, meaning we have government intervention, we will not have this available for people who need it now. Which is why it’s important we push for laissez faire capitalism and deregulate the markets. Completely divorce the government from the economy. Then people and their doctors can make the informed decision themselves to try what they think they need best. Instead of dying when a cure was just in reach.

i had my hair falling out as well due to the meds i had to take for my autoimmune disease. i used to hate my hair and how i had so much and how it was frizzy and now i regret ever taking it for granted. seriously affects us more than we’d imagine, especially as young women who are supposed to be in the “prime” of beauty and life. wishing you the upmost of strength, love, and peace during your process. 💗💗💗
