This video shows how to style streams, catchment boundary, flow direction raster and DEM using QGIS. We use colour ramps and inverted polygon shapeburst fill. Also blending and the hillshade renderer are demonstrated.
This video is based on Chapter 4 of the book "QGIS for Hydrological Applications - Recipes for Catchment Hydrology and Water Management" by Hans van der Kwast and Kurt Menge. Http://www.locatepress.com/hyd
For an overview of our GIS courses and info on tailor made trainings and advise see our folder: www.un-ihe.org/sites/default/...
The directional ramp used for the SAGA flow direction is available in the QGIS Style Hub: plugins.qgis.org/styles/116/

Dear Hans, The DEM (background) at 10:46 minutes looks like a perfect rectangle which then makes it easier when preparing the MAP and looks aesthetically pleasing. Is this because you used GRASS tools? Since i followed your previous video 'Stream and Catchment Delineation in QGIS 3' and cannot seem to get the same.

Dear Ian, In this video I used a rectangular bounding box with EPSG 32632 coordinates. So after reprojecting and clipping the DEM with this bounding box it is rectangular. If your bounding box is in a different projection or you reproject after clipping it will not be rectangular.

I am having trouble when exporting a map with the flow direction arrows: after designing the layout, the map exported doesn't respect the setted arrow parametres (length, spacing, head options, etc). Any idea how to fix it? Thanks again for this very useful tutorial series

It might not be implemented in such a way that you can easily add it to the print layout with the arrows in the same dimensions as in the map canvas. Can you put your question on Lutra Consulting's GitHub github.com/lutraconsulting/qgis-crayfish-plugin/issues
