Hans, thank you for your work. I encountered an error recently in the LDDCreate tool. I have been forced to fill sinks with another tool before I was able to then convert to PC Raster Format and then create the flowdirection. In your book you show that the LDDCreate does both but when attempted QGIS crashes. These drainage areas I am working with are less than 10,000 acres. Just informing you and perhaps you have a fix. - Rachael
@HansvanderKwast15 сағат бұрын
The lddcreate tool in your case still did both. So you basically applied the fill sinks step twice. I'm not sure what causes the challenge with using lddcreate the first time. What was the error message? Also it's fine to use other fill sinks algorithms, but then it's also probably better to continue the workflow with the other tool set. Check this video for more information about tools and workflows: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWaagWZ9j7mCiqM

Great! I have a question: there is way to calculae the main slope of channel? Thanks
@HansvanderKwast15 сағат бұрын
A rough estimate of the mean slope would be to take the first and last node, sample the elevation at these nodes and calculate the slope. A more refined way is could be: 1. Calculate slope from DEM (make sure it is projected and not in GCS!) 2. Use the Points along geometry tool from the processing toolbox to create points at a fixed distance on your river lines. 3. Use the Sample raster values tool from the processing toolbox to add the slope values to the point layer. 4. Calculate the average of all the sampled slope values.

I also came across the qProf plugin. See: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/246098/calculating-average-slope-from-line-using-qgis

Many thanks for this inside! I wasn't aware of this deep going edit-posibility of legend-items?! Using Atlas resulted in a bug in the legend-display of a "line-layer with end-markers and offsetted annotation". The offsetted annotation in the leggend-item kept displaying an attribute-value from the Atlas-layer instead of from the layer concerning, unless I turned off the Atlas?! You have pointed me right to the spot where to find out that it indeed is a bug (I encountered a red "data defined override"-icon with informative tiptext!), and to work around that Atlas-bug (by disabling that "data defined override", by which the original example-value got used) plús to do an appreciated de-offset of that text-symbol (which I had not expected to be thís easy to alter).

I newer versions of QGIS, the RAT functionality is built in and the dialogs are a little different. Here's the update: courses.gisopencourseware.org/mod/book/view.php?id=1332&chapterid=3276

So you need to choose: the default Managed by the data provider, which is the GDAL auxiliary XML format.

I guess you're referring to the UN Country Boundaries layer. It seems that that ArcGIS REST link doesn't have it anymore. You can add the following WFS link instead: data.apps.fao.org/map/gsrv/gsrv1/boundaries/wfs?service=WFS&version=1.1.0&request=GetFeature&typeName=boundaries:bndl&srsName=EPSG%3A4326&maxFeatures=1000

Dear Hans, thank you for this gem. I noticed that when I zoom to the minimum bounding box, measurement changes. It calculates and show only the porsion of the line wee see in the screen. This is misleading unfortunately.
@HansvanderKwast13 күн бұрын
Good that you mention this. You can also directly use the attributes of the bounding box polygon if you modify the expression in some way. I'll have a look later.
@HansvanderKwast13 күн бұрын
I've tried to solve the issue, but it's more complex than I thought. So the method only works well when your polygons are completely in the extent of your map canvas. Maybe someone else here knows how to create the same result, but with fixed dimensions of the bounding box?
@danielerinaldi312314 күн бұрын
many compliments Hans, the construction of the oriented bounding box with the measurements is a work of art in using geometry generators!

Amazing tutorial it helped a ton! if you dont have a single tiff image (because the process can add one image at a time) you can merge them through qgis (it will take some time depending on the size of the whole image) then export produced layer using render image setting on the top (so it can be RGB) then colourize you Las file through Lidar colourize process as shown in the tutorial.

Great demo. I am digitizing some 1750s era trails that I have reason to believe were gradually replaced by a series of back roads. There are no through, abandoned roads in the Appalachians, the back roads used to be animal trails. You just need to know the right combination of road segments. This has been helpful and the plugin will save several hours of hand digitizing.

@HansvanderKwastАй бұрын
Position tracking depends on the location of your device. If there's no connectivity it will use only the GPS signal registered by your device. The location accuracy is reported by the app.

@HansvanderKwastАй бұрын
As far as I can see from the functionality this is not possible. A workaround is to use the "Points along geometry" tool from the Processing Toolbox, then the "Add X/Y fields to layer" tool and label the points with an expression using the X/Y fields.

Are these files terrain corrected?
@HansvanderKwastАй бұрын
No. You need to check the acquisition method of each product to see if it is suitable as a DTM. The DSM ones are definitely not suitable if your interested in the terrain elevation (DTM).
