The answer is simple - European manufactured cars simply cannot compete on price with Chinese made ones. Also, just a correction on the e-2008 - the one sold here in May was the pre-facelift, and the one in Europe was post facelift. Both are second gen Peugeot 2008's.

They can compete, they just choose not to. Virtually all French cars are also sold in china at a fraction of the cost.

Great summary - the lower specifications, superseded models, overpricing and European car manufacture arrogance has not helped these French brands. I would contemplate one if it was more seriously positioned in the market. Eh, constructeurs automobiles français, on sait lire ! Apportez-nous des véhicules électriques sérieux et à bon prix.

Agreed. At a more competitive price I think Peugeot and Reno could sell a lot of EVs here, they just can't be priced more than Tesla and the other EV market leaders
