If you do most of your driving at lower speeds, and mainly around town, then the Kia is much better than the Model Y. It does not have the hyper-active safety systems that throw on the brakes every ten minutes, has better all-round visibility and access, and has local dealerships. The lack of a heat pump is not a major issue around town or anywhere north of Sydney. However, for longer trips, the Tesla's better aerodynamics and access to the full Supercharger network are impossible to ignore and the phantom braking is less of an issue. Horses for courses, but I reckon most people will be better off with the Kia. (Model Y owner here)

I recently completed a round trip from Melbourne to Brisbane over a couple of weeks and tested the new route planner on a couple of sections of the journey. It was adequate, but nowhere near as good as ABRP. A couple of suggestions for improvements I’d put to MG would be: 1 - give the user the option to select chargers along the route. At the moment you are stuck with whatever it calculates to assign, but it would be good to have options to choose from. 2 - show the estimated battery percentage at each stop and the destination. Ideally this should also display alongside the remaining distance, and should adjust accordingly if you increase or decrease efficiency. 3 - I don’t think the software has any idea of actual availability of the chargers being recommended, such as whether they are out of action, etc. (though I didn’t have any problems myself). I suspect not, as I don’t think the data is really live. 3 - If they can incorporate live map and charger data, and perhaps adjust along the route if necessary, that would be ideal. My usual method is to plan long routes in ABRP and then share that to Waze, so I’ll likely to continue doing that most of the time, but it is good to have at least something inbuilt into the car.

I have the Trophy ER (Extended Rang 77kw) here in the UK. Love the firmer suspension and the instant power in sport mode. The biggest irritations are MG updates so slow to come to market, they have facility for OTA updates but have announced there are no plans to use it, Infotainment updates are sketchy, originally had Bluetooth connection issues and Radio was very random around being on when started, had 2 updates, that were supposed to fix bluetooth and radio, 1st one fixed Bluetooth, Radio still not coming back on every time even after 2nd update (R59) this has added another issue the car hotspot has stopped working.
