Stylized Fluffy Trees Tutorial

In this video I talk about how to create stylized fluffy trees. I hope you enjoy it and it will be helpful for you! I tried to do my best to make it a clear and simple. The basis of this method is the tree creation using the billboard shader + trees canopy created in Tree It program. This method is quite fast and has a huge variety of usage. For some parts of this tutorial I used information first seen in tutorials by Marpetak Dev and André Felipe.

If anyone else is having trouble with black shadows on the leaves, here are some things that might help: - turn off ray tracing shadows in the directional light -adjust the intensity of the directional light and skylight - check "evaluate world position offset" in the mesh settings - set the "N Power" parameter in the material to at least 1 - change the lower hemisphere color in the skylight to a lighter color (it's black by default) - set lights to movable instead of static

What worked for me was disabling and enabling nanite.

What worked for me was making sure the grass mesh was wasn't set to completely smooth shading (i.e. Blender, Auto-smooth)

Great work!! I would recommend enabling "two sided" on the material settings when setting it to masked to give the foliage a fuller look. At least on my end, only using the two sided sign node doesnt enable the leaves to be two sided.

Quick and dirty cones: Mesh tab>Mesh>"Create", (Mesh Type: Sphere). Cones texture: Mesh Texture>"Load Texture", Tree It\Textures\Bark\"Palm06".

I think you need to mess with billboard inflate and scale sliders. If it’s still not enough maybe add more leaves. Hope that helps!

I have been making trees in a similar way(but more complicated haha) going to this as a ref to improve on the look and maybe the workflow as well. The shader would be complete if it takes account object position for the hue-shift so it would automatically create color variation of it when placed on the terrain

My issue with what I setup from styalized tutorial is my leaves follow my character ruining the shadows under the tree, any fix on this?

great video, thank you ! Following your method i achieved a similar result but by using a two-sided material, which it seems you didnt use in your video ? With single sided leafs, the foliage tend to look too thin for my liking, plus doesnt look good when looking at it from a side view

I can't seem to get it to look as nice as yours despite using the same settings. The billboards clip into each other resulting in fuzziness and ugly stripes. (and also loose billboards) While your billboards look like they were painted as one colored plane. Is it your post processing material that does this? Or is it one of the settings within the shader that you did not explain?

I didn't use any post process materials or something else. I heard about a similar problem, try to create a tree with leaf population type Front. Usually, this fixes all issues.
