I have never hand an event like this play out before. I was hyped about learning the Specular BSDF trick, then found out in 4.2.3 that node isn't there anymore. I most likely is either under a new name now, or just is gone... either way, ugh. That was something cool I wanted to test and play around with. Still, watching your stuff has always boosted my want to keep practicing. You're awesome with a lot of things, but you're also transparent about how long it took you. 25 hours on this seems insane at first, but honestly, it is about the right time even for professionals given how much work they put into doing things. (Without the geo node heads I could see adding a good hour on that alone.)

Could you clarify how you used projection on 2nd UV and then how you used it as its shown as you just magickly moved it to the prime UV - how did you do that?! From Basic Texturing 9:43 project uv to the Original UV - how did you transfer the information from one texture to the other?
@VertexArcade2 ай бұрын
I have 2 UVs, the "prime" UV and the projected one. With the main UV selected, go to Texture Paint mode and select the Clone brush, then you can select Single Image at the top of the screen and select the Image you want to paint on. Then under the properties we can select the Source Image (the reference image) and the source UVs (the projected UVs) then when we paint with the clone brush it will use the project UVs and reference image and draw it on to whatever image we selected! I explain it in full during my sword video! kzbin.info/www/bejne/anPHe3qln9N7qdksi=ZQRwYrUWpQkKnNfd

i literally just picked up blender, not even halfway through gurus donut tutorial playlist yet thank you for mentioning that it took you 6 hours just on the shirt alone, its really easy to get disillusioned at how long these things take to make when watching sped up modelling footage, even when its done by a professional, these things take a long ass time to do, and i shouldnt frustrate myself when i didnt make a fully textured, rigged, and completed model in 30 minutes

What is your opinion on modeling clothes in blender vs. software like marvelous designer?
@VertexArcade4 ай бұрын
Marvelous Designer is way better! In the same way that ZBrush is better for sculpting than Blender, Marvelous Designer just has so many more features that default Blender doesn't have. I know there are a few clothing add-ons that try and replicate it, but a standalone software will always be more efficient
