I learned to animate the negatives about 2 years into my career and I agree that it helps make animating FX a lot less intimidating. You explain it much better than I can, though! Good work!

You should put “ toon boom” in the title to get more views that would help a lot of people to find your channel. Great channel by tha way

pro animator giving out the real tricks °!! thanx girl ! just wish the videos were a little bit longer sometimes, watching you draw with that confidence and routine teaches a lot without even saying a word ! anyways, one of the top 3 a2d animations channels imo EDIT: thanx for that reference sheet , donated a few coffees

Ahh super cool! I haven't given effects much thought. I'm a lot more interested in character animation. But this is so neat!

The language of shapes always plays an important role in themes. Fantasia is a great example were the mood of the music is conveyed by the motions and types of shapes used. When it comes to the 3d studios world the best we got for negative shapes is meta-balls and Boolean cuts. Lets just say the results are not as good.

The thing I love about 2d, and drawing in general is how easy it is to completely scrap an idea and try something new- or being able to push and pull things without fighting with technology. Of course, then we need to draw 36 views of an elaborate pirate ship and I'm like.... maybe 3D is not so bad. lol

@@StylusRumble yeah 3d is great when teams of People build upon one another's works -> sculpting -> Textures -> rigging -> Lighting, however things start getting really ridged in the amount of changes you can do and how much you could effect other persons work down the pipe line. Just about all mechanical objects in animations are done CGI wise and I really don't have a problem with that. To me it helps free up time for animators to work on characters and fx animations.

The best Hybrid show I know is Oban Star racer. They used 3D where it shines and 2D where it shines and you can barely see the seams. If only they all looked that good. :D

off topic question but is there a way to add a point to an existing deformer?
@StylusRumble3 жыл бұрын
You can use the deformation tools to add more points- and I think there are new features in 20, I haven't had time to explore. It might even be called point deformer. However, I find if something is already animated, adding to the Deformer can create more problems than it solves.
