Great rock band from the 70's-80's. They had so many great songs such as "Lady", "Lorelei", "Suite Madame Blue", "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)", "Mr. Roboto", "Babe", "The Best of Times", "Too Much Time On My Hands", "Show Me The Way", "Don't Let It End", "Why Me", "Borrowed Time", "Rockin' The Paradise" etc.

I’m sorry for your loss. Unfortunately they never get easier, they just get more frequent the older you get. I used to listen to this while sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in the late 70’s. Good memories!

I guess I've been to over 10 Styx concerts when they came here to Texas. Was always a great time and each time it would inspire me. When teaching school would wear me down a bit, I'd put the headphones on during lunch and listen to some Styx. And yes, I'd to really bad jokes as well in class. I had a "bad joke jar" and the students would put what "they" thought were bad jokes into it. On Fridays, when we were all wore out, we'd pull one out and of course, whether it was bad, good or indifferent, we'd have to all pretend it was so bad we had to groan in pain.

In the spring of 77 I was graduating from high school. Some friends and I had your typical high school band and when this came out we just had to learn it. In those days I could hit those notes. Nit anymore! 😊

This really takes me back! We were married 5 years, 2 kids (1 more to come) and I used to sing along when it came on the radio. We had a stereo console with a radio, turntable and 8-track. That’s back when I could listen to the kind of music I liked!! I can now, of course, but my husband prefers if I wear headphones. Great reaction to a classic band. 🎶 Cyd

I'll just say this, August 1978, Convention Hall in Asbury Park, New Jersey. I was 19 at the time. I don't know how big this venue is, but where I saw them it was a 1/3 to 1/2 as big.

The writer and singer Dennis DeYoung quit his teaching job and toiled for years. Suffered from major depression due to lack of success. Had to bring his wife and children on tour with him. This song was his last attempt to make it. The childhood friends are the drummer and bass player who he started a band with in 1962.

Firstly, My most Sincere condolences for the loss of your friend, I'm truly sorry. 🙏🕯I was 10 years old in 1977, but I had this on vinyl, and listened to it almost daily. Another record from around the same time you might like to check out is Point of No Return by the band Kansas, particularly the song Dust In The Wind.

Styx became my favorite band in high school in 1977 after listening to "The Grand Illusion" and specifically "Fooling Yourself" on an 8-Track tape in a friend's car. ===>"Prelude 12/Suite: Madam Blue", and ***YES*** "CASTLE WALLS"!!!

Hi 'Red', Styx is one of my favorite bands; RUSH WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVE. Dennis DeYoung is ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS on vocals. You ought to check out Styx: Return to Paradise 1996 video concert; the opening song Rocking the Paradise is ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL. Later on in the show: Lady, SUITE MADAM BLUE and Lorelei are absolutely incredible. You are wonderful.!

The universe is vast, and I think we'll find some very interesting stuff out there if we can ever get out there. However, I also think that the vast universe contains more than we know of, and as such, expecting any of that interesting stuff to be even "life" much less life that acts at all like we do, is pretty unlikely. Consider even viruses here on Earth, which are not precisely life, but sort of an odd byproduct of life. Every time we look more closely we don't see repetition (other than the elements), we see variation; every snowflake is unique, and that's a very simple phenomenon as compares chemistry as complex as life. What we then also do is try to understand everything in terms of ourselves, since that's what we know best. But that's certainly a myopic lens, when it comes to the vast universe.

What fun watching your reaction and a live performance (from 1981/82? Japan); and understand the video and audio are not the greatest in this recording (but at least it's not the Official video that is edited-down without the instrumental). Huge Styx fan here. More Styx: "Prelude 12/Suite: Madam Blue", "CASTLE WALLS", "Man In The Wilderness", "Lady", "Fooling Yourself". May I also suggest BOSTON: "A Man I'll Never Be", "Hitch A Ride", and "Foreplay/Long Time" (you did a cover of "More Than A Feeling").

💕 Enjoyed that. I don't think I've ever heard a Styx song or if I have I didn't know it! Aliens. Well, with the amount of planets in the universe there has to be a chance of some other life form out there. But as to those abducting people and probing them, no! They'd probably take one look at us and move on anyway 🤣

The odds that we're the only sentient beings in this vast universe, that we've recently discovered through our newest telescope is even more vast than we previously imagined, seems ludicrous and insanely egotistic. In answer to the oft asked question, "why haven't they made themselves known?", I would suggest they may want to keep their distance from such an obviously self destructive group of morons. Who knows? Once we've finally made this planet uninhabitable for us, we might have rendered it perfect for some other alien race.
