Lawrence is an amazing performer and musician. Just saw Styx May 31 2022. Runs around the stage like a 20 year old at 65. Mad props to Tommy Shaw as well. Sounds phenomenal still at 68.

All old bands like Styx eventually have to realize it is time to pack it up. This is just plain sad. They're reduced to playing cruises.

@@donaldpaluga DDY hasn't played any gig since before the pandemic, but has proven that he can still sing very well. His vocals are sublime for his age. If DDY were to play casino lounges, he most likely would still sing complete Styx songs that he composed and produced. He certainly would not have to rely on cover material. Without him, Styx is just a tribute band like Journey are these days. Playing moldy oldie cruises used to be where such acts like Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Randall and other old time acts were regulated to perform in the eighties and nineties. When their lame new album failed to stay on the Billboard album charts, Styx was suddenly reduced to the oldies circuit. They are willing to take cruise gigs because any gig where folks can't get off the boat is better than playing to mostly empty seats elsewhere. Tommy Shaw is a fool by ignoring DDY, the true founding member of Styx. Egos clash and ruin once great bands, but as more time passes, less people begin to care. Many fans begged for a reunion, which DDY wanted. Unfortunately, this is the result. I blame Tommy Shaw for lowering standards with a lame replacement.

Tommy & J.Y have recently turned down HUGE $$$$ and BIG venues if they would just re-unite with Dennis De Young for one more short tour... Needs some serious DDY on that stage...

@@michaelbeerbados3291 lol. He may be a prick, but he has a lot of talent and started the band. I think Tommy is a bigger prick. When Tommy needed money, Dennis had his back. Tommy didn't acknowledge that Dennis started the band. He acknowledged the two Panazo as the founding members without mentioning Dennis. But the two pricks could definitely write good music together and harmonize like there was no tomorrow.
