Tip: If you start firing with the internal cannon & switch to gun pods they all fire at once. You have to change the controls from space bar to something else to make it work. Also get out of burst mode. You really want to have a ball turn on unlimited ammo.

The SU-24 has a pod called SPPU-6 which don't have two moveable 23mm guns instead it has one moveable 23mm rotary cannon :D :D

You don't have to dive, just fly level and line the 2 pippers and shoot. I think thats the way they should be used. Correct me if I'm wrong ofc.

You can but we only used the Laser designated programmed mode and I find it best to put a shallow dive on to ease aligning the pippers. We were going to strafe the length of the road in a level flight fixed depression mode but we ran out of ammo and time.

Another brilliant tactic is to manually lower the cannons so you can fly straight over a column of vehicles/infantry and then just wreak havoc without worrying about your altitude, just fly straight over them 😆

Still prefer the GAU-8. Those are really cool guns. That is actually very cool. The A-10A was wired to have SUU-20 (I think) gun pods on stations 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. I have always wanted to see what kind of havoc you could cause with gun run with 7 20mms an 1 30mm. You would have to get close for all the aiming pipers to line up, but holly crap that would be great!

@matias Right control and bracket keys control the elevation as default. Just need to make sure your set to the pods and not internal cannon

This Gunpod in this mode is useless if there's any wind. You can't manually compensate for the wind because it's "Automatic". You can run perpendicular to wind direction and compensate laterally but at this point, what's the point.

Actually, after posting this, I figured out a solution. If you set wrong target size in Shkval like 30, then Shkval will not snap onto target. Then you can offset the Shkval reticle to compensate for the wind.

It looks like you're a bit limited to one target at a time. Can you overfly a convoy and rapidly switch between all the units in it? That would be fantastic.

You can indeed manually raise and depress the guns and just use them on their own with the manual aiming reticle on the HUD. So then you would set your gun depression, line up with the convoy and brrrt. Only downside would of course be that the convoy will go defensive left and right after you open up on them making it likely that you won't hit many targets after the ones at the back or front of the convoy. Might need to test this.

How many rounds does each pod have ? I only ask because any head to head fight with an A-10 might depend on how many rounds the GAU on the A-10 has . If I'm correct its less than 2k . NOT what I call a fair fight .

Each pod has one twin barrelled GSh-23L cannon w/ 280 rounds, that's roughly 4.5-4.8 seconds of Communist Propaganda raining down. That's the actual pod, could be different in DCS.

Basically that beeping means you're getting pinged by radar waves and you're in a hostile environment. Trust me, you want that beeping. It becomes helpful background noise when you're on missions.
