100% agree with you n that Maya did have a captain's presence. Kayla and Danielle were my favorite doll captains. Kayla was pure milk and Danielle was so dynamic. Jordan had captain's presence too, that video of her leading the girls in wearing the leopard (or giraffe or jaguar or hyena hehe) outfit had me HYPE for her reign as captain. Sad that we never got to see it.

I just want the current captain & future captains/leaders to work their squads out during marches & parades. Not just to any sequence but intricate sequences. I love the Dolls style. It’s not boring to me, it’s enjoyable. It just may not be for everyone. Perhaps like an acquired taste. I like their style, beauty, sophistication and class. I loved Jordan’s creativity, Kayla’s effortlessness, Dani’s swag, Maya’s strut, and Gabby’s bourgeois. The Dolls are like the Ferrari of the HBCU squads.

I agree with you Morgan. I also believe the Dolls are an acquired taste to be able to watch over and over. I was a J-sette stan since 2002. Sidenote: Nakelah and Shanketta were my favorite captains! The J-settes had good form, the stands, parades, marches, etc. They were the it factor for a long time. I feel like that all changed when Tierra became captain. They lost a certain essence they once had. There were some exciting field shows in 2014, but that was it. I felt like in 2014 the J-settes took a major down slide. They weren't as clean in the stands and Tierra messed up numerous times. Also, Mrs. Crowley became the sponsor and they were also under a new band director that year. There were a lot of changes in the entire band program. I won't even mention 2016-17 for the J-settes. We'll pretend that didn't even happen. I didn't watch. 2014 is also when the dolls started to pick up momentum. KP was captain. Mama caught my eye!!! That's when I started watching the Dolls every week. She took the Dolls in a new direction. Then add Danni to take the reigns after her!!! When Gabby became captain, I didn't watch each week. That was supposed to be Jordan's year. Now my eyes are on the Stingettes!!!

I understand what you said about the DOLLS, but for me, those are the exact reasons why I like them and they are my fave by a 100 points. I haven't watched all of the dance lines but I have watched the ones that I think you prefer. The Stingettes, Jsettes, and the Alcorn Univ. dancers I can't watch; I did watch them for hours each before I made this decision. So much humping the ground, crouching, contorting, calisthenics, kicking, and wriggingly I don't get or understand. For me, that's not dance. That's someone call 9-1-1. I think they're have seizures. I prefer the Dolls' grace and flowing movements to endless flopping - to each his own. I totally agree w/your #Milking... for KP. She does extend every part of her part when she performs. It's amazing. I don't appreciate Gaby, Jordan, & Maya (& Connor) as much as you & others. I don't see personality or aliveness in them or their face when they dance - not enuf for me to watch them more than 3-minutes. MAYBE YOU CAN MAKE A VIDEO OF EACH OF THE DANCING LINES. I don't even know how many there are. I did go to a few Greek events at HU but never a game. My mom attended PVAMU back in the late 50's, however, I didn't attend an HBCU & was raised in California. Ain't no HBCU or A&M around these parts. Are these ladies paid or given some stipend b/c they must spend all their time practicing. All the best!
