Such a strong and beautiful Hmong lady. I'm glad to see the Hmong in America are changing for the better. To see a Hmong women in this position, commanding the wide respect and admiration of the Hmong people makes me think we have come a long way. Yet the journey has only begun for all of us. Although we are not perfect, I strongly believe we are making it better step by step. Bless Mrs Vang Pao and Bless our Hmong people.

I think what she meant was that during the time GVP was leader, the lao and other countries changed from referring us as Meo to Hmong. Before GVP's rise, the Hmong were still second class citizens and were discriminated by the low land lao. So VP didn't actually name us Hmong, but rather he earned the respect of the lao people and lao nation to make all ethnic groups in laos equals. Thus the derogatory word Meo was longer used to classify the Hmong people in laos after VP rose to power.
