The ladies in black look like the same ladies from the "Addicted To Love" video, with a little more eye makeup. I really like the Guitar player closest to Mr. Palmer, oh yeah, and the Keyboard player. Got to see Robert Palmer live back in the 70's, before all his MTV success. Great show. His big hit at the time was the "Sailin' Shoes>Hey Julia>Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley" trilogy. Very much worth a listen, a fun ten minutes or so.

FINALLY..... I'm not gripping but I requested this after you did the first Palmer tune. Thanks again my friend. This had to be added to his playlist.... You agree.

You got a good ear. This was indeed a cover, recorded by Cherrelle two years earlier. I always thought the man in Palmer's song was being disingenuous. He was leading her on, teasing her and then saying babe it was a lovely night I'll see you again, just titillating her. Interesting role reversal cause it's usually the woman who's depicted in songs and movies as doing this.

It's an interesting reversal of roles in dating, the guy letting the girl down on romantic desires instead of the girl letting the guy down. You should check out some of his earlier work like Bad Case Of Loving You and Clues.

The casting call for the 9 Ladies.... Seeking 9 Nearly Identical females for music video. Must be at least 6 feet tall and weigh no more than 115 pounds, with slight dancing talents.... Call Robert Palmer for more details.

I think you’re taking the song too deep. 2 of the greatest funk writers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis wrote this, when men were still men and could playfully have a macho flirtatious vibe.
