The Suavecito you’ve used in this video is a strong hold pomade. The ones that don’t harden as fast are the 2018 Sandwood, Matte, and medium hold Suavecito. Like he said, Suavecito is used for that greaser and rockabilly look. Simple things like slick backs and some slick backs with a twist. Made for thick hair. It’s directed in the Mexican/Latin path. Hints the name and where it comes from (California) here in CA there’s hella Mexicans including myself that use Suavecito. 10/10 for me best stuff I used in years. I like that it hardens fast and strong. Recently picked up the Sand wood 2018 Suavecito, medium hold and doesn’t dry quick. Still holds good just not as strong!

I love Layrite (including the smell) and I've used it on and off for more than 5 years now. I've *just* discovered Suavecito and I was also struck by the similarity....except for price. I pay between $12 and $17 for Layrite, while Suavecito was only $9. I'm excited about the $3-9 savings - it adds up.

Both of the packages look cheap tbh don't they
@Wildchildinc8 жыл бұрын
They look cheap, but they perform really good. Honestly you get more bang for your buck on these two than the extra 5-10 bucks on Crew, Hanz De Fuko, and other salon type products for example. From my experience with these two entry level water bases, I get better control, hold, and durability overall. The key with these types of pomade is to apply with relatively damp hair.
@billclitton58638 жыл бұрын
I dont really like either. The meaning of a pomade is to stay somewhat re-styleable. Which both dont do. The shine also fades throughout the day.
@Wildchildinc8 жыл бұрын
Bill Clitton You neglect the title, water based pomade. If you want re-style go with traditional pil bases like Lockharts.
@billclitton58638 жыл бұрын
CrushedJustice How do I neglect it? Im just stateing that if a water-based pomade is a gel-type its basicly a glorified gel, I see very few things that differantiet a water-based pomade from a gel.
@Wildchildinc8 жыл бұрын
Bill Clitton The book definition of pomade is scented ointment for styling which a gel could fall under that definition. Water soluble pomades dry, but not to the extreme like gels. In the case for forming pompadours, typical gels don't allow much room for control in shaping nor do they control waves/curls very well. In comparison, water soluble pomades offer the control, shaping, and hold that typical gels don't allow for. Once water is added to typical gel, ability to restyle is completely gone because the product washes out where as a water soluble pomade still allows users to add water and restyle to an extent. There are alternate "water soluble" pomades like O'douds that act like oil bases, but don't completely wash out because of the wax content.

I was a greaser when I was younger, so got really into these pomades, then around the age of 15 I transitioned to sharp casual/dapper style, but I kept using pomades for my hair. I’ve always been a fan of those pomade-wearing stars like Elvis Presley, so I allowed myself to go on with the same hairstyles and products. For my hair type (thick, straight but fairly wavy) oil based pomades are superior to all other products, and I’ve tried many.

Spent most of my evening watching all of your videos mate. I've been using Layrite water based pomade for the past 2 years, however I'm looking to change brands. My hair started a bit wavey, but since using the product my hair has become dry and extremely curly. Without product, my hair almost has ringlets! I'm looking for a long lasting, high shine and wet look pomade which will stay in place all day as I work in an active job. I tried other types of pomade, but they were extreme hard to wash out. Which pomade is your favourite overall? I couldn't seem to find a video on your favourite, only comparisons. Thanks!
@danielhartwig31508 жыл бұрын
great review, as usual, Robin. Always appreciate your honesty. I'm glad that you actually talk about the ingredients of the hair products that could harm your hair. My hair is very fine, like yours. I did try some of the gel pomades in the past but I switched to all natural clays now (maybe try out the black clay from nature's zero). Since we have similar hair and hair style, can I asked you a few questions? - I'm using Kevin Murphy's Anti.Gravity as a base to get some volume and as a heat protecting before blow drying. Is there a better "all natural" volumizer you can recommend? - Even though, I love the clay I use - I still use a strong hold WB pomade for the sides. Is there a "all natural" strong hold hair product that you know of ? I would like to avoid ingredients like Mineral oil or Borax - Finally, I would like to avoid to blow dry my hair every day. I think the heat make my hair thinner. Can you recommend an "all natural" volume hair spray? Thanks so much!!!
