This episode is honestly wholesome, it's like it was never a cardfight that was decided who's stronger it was like those cardfights where the aftermath of the match the two cardfighters become the best of friends, I would want to see more episodes of Mirei and Urara together. Also I honestly believe that there's more to Raika's story than that, his friend quitting vanguard due to him winning all the time seems pretty shallow for a character to be a Kanzaki clone. Also D4DJ cameos at 21:18. Next is Michiru VS Megumi, Michiru will win this one for sure, but of course Megumi isn't gonna give up so easily, I would be shock though if Megumi wins this one.

To think Urara has an auditory talent with Vanguard that Mirei lacks, it's a bit weird honestly. Blindness apparently sharpens other senses and Mirei clearly has that attribute as seen when she could tell it was going to rain without being able to see the clouds.

Not really. From what I can see, Urara has synesthesia which is a condition whereupon your senses can blend together. Some can hear the sound of colour for example or from what in seems in Urara's case the ability to hear sounds whenever she touches a card. Mirei has sharpened senses in touch and hearing but she can't really develop synesthesia since it's neurological in origin.

The fact we seen two people with such powerful senses related to Vanguard, almost to the point of almost being special abilities, makes me think the device we see in the OP has something to do with it. Urara is a character who always bugged me though I couldn’t place my finger on it until recently. The red flags came when she got invited to a big ticket tournament after HER FIRST GAME (something you’d only see in a fanfiction). She’s constantly insecure even as she acknowledges Vanguard as a breakaway from how suffocating following the rhythm of others’ in her music class is. And in this fight specifically, she backs to backs answers to her opponent (I’d be okay with either the heal or double trigger in isolation, since it would at least force her to strategically address either Mirei’s offense or defense with the RNG as a precursor/payoff to her decisions). But her plan to survive the turn was RNG and her plan to win was RNG, and the narrative bends to accommodate. Her weakness is constantly seen as “special” and “cool” by others to the point where it ceases to matter as “what the character is bad at”. Mary Sue is a super unproductive buzzword for narrative analysis, but I can’t find any other word for this. Or maybe I’m doing too much when talking about Vanguard of all things.

Vanguard has always been like this. Anytime a new beginner arrives they have insane luck. Aichi, Naoki, Chrono all have had examples of this. Chrono is especially notorious of this throughout his series.

@@shmarfle47 I hate those cases too, but they’re a lot less noticeable since the characters always get slapped early to make it clear that they’re not as good as their win streak would have you believe. Naoki has that crushing loss to Kai where he saw how much better another player was using his own deck. Aichi got slapped by Misaki because he wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing (he didn’t even have an established win record other than the Kai tutorial fight). Chrono gets checked by Ibuki, and Ibuki makes it clear Chrono underperformed his expectations. While not much, these moments of defeat do a lot to soften the blow of “newbie defeats veterans”. While I don’t doubt Urara will lose at some point, I don’t know if it’ll fully counter my mixed feelings about her.

She is a bit of a Mary Sue, but also I think that the TO has obvious ulterior motives and realizes that she has that connection. Which is also why the veterans are so quick to recognize that she is more gifted than the average newbie, and almost none of them discount her inexperience. And that's not unlike how it can be sometimes in IRL play. Some people who just started pick up the pacing and risk/reward mentality you need faster than others. I think she'll make it to semi-finals, but probably will get stomped by Michiru or Raika to set Yuyu up for a high-stakes finale.

Synthesia makes more sense for someone having a connection with music in which can have a lot of reasonings behind as a way to communicate or making friendships; even to me specifically, I wasn’t the best in class either and remember taking Piano and music classes during my early childhood which I can definitely relate to Urara the most; her winning streak through luck is the only aspect from her that I genuinely don’t like but excluding that, Urara is a fun addition to the cast!!! 😊🎶

Mirei could have won from her last turn if she attacked with her RG first. With the persona, her RG were attacking for 38k and Urara only had a guard of +25k (so 38k). Although Urara would have the heal at her 5th dmg (leaving her a 4 dmg), she would have the one card (Lianorn) in her hand and with Mirei's VG being at 2 crit., she would have been able to push for the win.

I dislike how they let Mirei lose. She had enough in hand and could’ve intercept to stop the attack. Her hand was a front trigger that could guard for 20k, 15k critical, and trick moon(5k). The flower dragon has no skill that’s relevant at the time(I looked it up). The girl boosting it was 13k. 13000 +40000=53000 Why didn’t she drop her hand and intercept? 63000 vs 53000. She would have survived. Take the last damage damage. Used Adarla skill to bring back the gun soul charge and retire her front row . Then kill her.

As much as I really wanted Urara to lose to showcase that she's still new despite her talents and to not pull a Gao on this one. Your calculations are incorrect, the dragon's skill gives itself 2k power per every time a unit boosts the vanguard 3 units did so that's 6k + it's 10k base + 20k from triggers which makes it 36k + the 13k boost and the 10k from persona ride adds it up to a total of 59k, Mirei didn't have a crit in her hand she had a 10k shield draw trigger, a pg, Adarla and obviously Trickmoon + 20k Front, I assume she dropped either Adarla or Trickmoon for her pg so that would equate her shield to 20k Front + 10k Draw + 5k Trickmoon + Double Intercept (10)k = 45k which would only put her to 58k which would still be short and that's the maximum amount of shield she had, if she dropped trickmoon instead of adarla obviously it'd be lower. Unfortunately it was accurate

@@sk8timator7 the first fight was Ibuki using a Kagero deck, he had Chrono on the ropes until Chrono passed out so it was left undecided. In thier second fight however Ibuki used Link Joker and beat Chrono with it.

You know I feel like mirei threw the game because if you look closely in her drive checks she got a trickmoon worth 5000 shield, a grade 3, and a front trigger worth 15000 shield plus 5000 shield making it 20000 shield. So her hand cards were 6, one unknown, one for cost of sentinel and sentinel and the 3 from drive checks and if you look at her field, she has 2 grade 2 worth 5000 each and intercept. After complete guarding lianorn’s attack, she should have used the front trigger, 1 trickmoon and 1 grade 2 intercept to guard ( or maybe no trickmoon and 2 grade 2 intercepts instead or all if the total power of 43000 or higher idk abt there abilities) and she would have taken the other rear guard’s attack ( w/out crit bonus) to survive with 5 damage. Idk her true plan or why didn’t she guard the attack but you know, plot armor. Also I forgot, who won haruka or tomari?
