After the fierce battles, fighters who won their way into the remaining 8 spots spend their time thinking before the next round begins. Yu-yu welcomes an unexpected guest, Tohya departs on a long journey, and Raika shows a new side apart from that which Urara wasn't good with.

This filler episode is pretty lighthearted and gave me massive feels. But Michiru's reaction to something has got me a little bit concerned and the look on headphones guy's face when he looked at the tournament bracket...yeah, totally not suspicious.

Another amazing episode. I like how this is a more lighthearted episode of everyone just getting ready for the main event.

Ok, as with all Overdress episodes without any cardfights this was actually good. This episode shows Raika in a different light, other than being a Michiru fan, Raika also helps players improve their skills which is nice of him to do and the fact that he didn't kick out Urara also shows another side of him, in a way he reminds me of Sayo from Bandori. Speaking of Urara I kinda like her in this episode, she starts to question what's her view on Vanguard which is something I wanted from her for when she was introduced and next episode would be focused on Urara so I can't wait for next week, as for Mondo he's ok and I hope that his fight with Michiru would actually be good. As for the matchups I was slightly disappointed, I was expecting Raika vs Urara in the tournament but seeing her face off against Yu-yu in the first round made me think otherwise. Overall a good episode, Raika has started to be likeable for me and I'm starting to get interested in Urara now.

Agreed; I really starting to like Raika, helping opposing players improve their respective decks is such a wholesome thing to do and I also really loved the idea of questioning your view of Vanguard and I would expect to see a flashback or two in the next episode in which is quite fitting given what matchup we will get next and I am very excited for the upcoming matchups to come!!! [It’s obviously that Raika will win his next match story-wise, can’t be mad but definitely feel bad for Mirei though because I know she’ll definitely lose but I will still root for her anyways!!!] 😭😊

Really, this episode is a real treat, from the interactions between Yu-yu, Megumi, Riku, and Yurina, to Tohya and Mondo. I think the characters that really took to the helm this episode were Raika and Urara. Urara especially since she's honestly the character that needs a bit of an obstacle, and this episode gave us that.

A very chill episode with more time to invest in the side characters like the father who wants to be cool for their kid and riku who wants to fight strong opponents because it would be fun. Then you see raika who is very determined to grow as a cardfighter even teaching his team their faults to grow. Not just side characters either there's Yuyu who seems to grow more mature with each episode learning the value of different play styles and approaches to the game and embracing those approaches. Overall a great little filler episode I can't wait for the next one when we see urara and yuyu fight :D

While it's a shame not to be able to see much development from everyone in the tournament, those little moments are appreciated. Although this shows that a tournament season requires many more chapters to dedicate enough time to each character. What will happen to Urara and Michiru with that headache? Could it be that we will see something supernatural related to the game in this world that seemed normal?

This is how you make filler episodes Bushi! Well done for another good one :) - however, I think you should focus a bit more on side characters. Back in OG we had Morikawa, Miwa and other characters that were prominent and we got to see new different game styles. I would love to see some cardfights from the other members of Team Blackout!

Yes yes yes LOVE this. Over/Willdress again proving you don't need any action or cardfighting to make a good episode. From Yuyu's family showing their full support, to Tohya being a loveable Vanguard geek, to showing the other side of Raika, and to the fighters who didn't qualify actually having some interactions. I said it on one of the last 3 episodes but D-series has no bad episodes, even the ones that don’t progress the plot do great exploring the characters, giving wholesome interactions with other cast members they normally wouldn’t or are just plain entertaining. I think part of it come from the shorter episode count per season giving them a lot less time to burn on meaningless fluff like the original series run which had an episode count around the 50s to 60s or at it’s lowest 30s to 40s like that episode back in G where we reunite some guy with some girl and they hook up. But it’s also apparent the writers know what they are doing, I dare say it’s got some of the best writing for a card game anime I’ve seen in years.

Imho I don't mind it too much cuz this is a pretty straightforward tournament to begin with and also majority of anime tournament arcs being predictable themselves. All I want now is great cardfight and sakuga actions and the development+journey to the top of our (if no shenanigans happen) maybe winner Yuyu.

Hero deck is lacking Set orders. The bases they had given us were not enough. There was 1 time where 2 Bases ended up in dmg zone. That pretty much shut down the deck. Offensive the deck is pretty strong, and defensively is quite fine. So the only issue is need more Base orders

It's good to have filler episodes like this from time to time, since every episode so far was fight after fight, seeing Raika's true passion about Vanguard, seeing interactions between other characters after the qualifiers, even seeing Yuyu's family supportive of his love for vanguard and seeing Urara supported by her classmates and teachers, it gives more depth to these characters than your typical Vanguard Pro, I can assume Yuyu VS Urara is next week and in there Urara might get her first loss in Vanguard, though the title of the Next episode is "Symphony" so I might be wrong.

They been saying he been traveling the world to train and haven't showed any progress in actual fights yet. If you seen the tournament fights you clearly so after yuyu beat Urara (obviously) he going against Michiru and i think YuYu will lose there. Tohya will probably beat Megumi which will make him face Raika which I think he'll win. Which leads to Tohya vs Michiru.

@@ChunniTensei He won't win! With the release of new Youthberk, that's basically confirmed that Raika will destroy him. Tohya deck is pure offense and basically zero defense. If new Youthberk is a finisher then Tohya won't stand a chance. Remember tcg rules, new cards will wait n a match at 90%. The lose of Welstra is that 10% to promote the plot. Also this is NOT OG Vanguard where they can make MC loses every important fight. Your speculation never made any sense to begin with. Tohya was sidelined for a reason, to introduce more new characters.

He didn't even struggle on his matches. To be fair he was fighting filler characters but they aren't some weak nobodies. He even beat the former champ. All I'm saying is they have been hyping up Tohya's character for a reason. This is that reason.

Apparently, you are right, mate. New Youthberk is Revolform: Tempest. I suspect that it will have guard restriction as a finisher. So far Youthberk deck didn't have a finisher, only 'threatening' units, units which forced to guard more then needs.

bruh unless they throw something wack we already know the result of the finals Yuyu beats Urara, Michiru beats Mondo, Raika beats Mirei, Tohya beats Megumi, then Yuyu beats Michiru (some fucking how) and triggers Raika cause he won't be able to fight Michiru in the grand finals, Raika then beats Tohya and we have the revenge match of Yuyu VS Raika unless the subplot of Danji going away interrupts the tournament (like a 3rd party crashing in) I believe this is how we'll finish this season

@@Xeogran First of all, while the ending is great, the rest let's be real is total garbage. And come on a low IQ person can see universe 7 would take the W cuz Main Character energy (like Willdress, not that it's a bad) and believe it or not 17 is one of the top 5 favorites to win the whole thing alone Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Frieza. So my point still stands you cannot make a tournament arc without it being predictable.
