Sub-floor inspection is vital and can provide a goldmine of information.

When carrying out a survey, if at all possible carry out sub-floor inspections as they will reveal a lot of important information which will ensure an accurate diagnosis and survey report. It takes a little bit of extra effort but the rewards will be worth it.

Informative vid .. would you use a carbide test for damp at the lower level ? I know most moisture meter aren’t calibrated for masonry. Although I believe Tramex have one for different materials.

Thanks Neil for the video. We’re refurbing an early 1900’s mid terraced so this is v useful info! Can I ask a question ? As you say, the bricks are much obviously much dryer above the DPC but when you moved the camera round, it seemed that much of the rest of the same 2 courses of bricks above the DPC were the same colour as the courses below the DPC - has the DPC failed then in the other areas where all the bricks are the same colour / same dampness ?? Thanks

To me it looks like those couple of courses of bricks just aren't original like the rest
