It is the first time that I have truly understood the opening verse of this Ghazal! Per the TV series 'Ghalib', which this clip shows, Ghalib is mourning the loss of his son's very early death. The opening verse is alluding to the son's grave, with his body under the soil. In a graveyard, flowers can bloom or be placed over the grave but below the earth lie beautiful faces hidden from the world, such as Ghalib's son's face. How sad, even if fictional. It is "ranj" and not ranz. Ranj means sorrow.
