I like the way you did this. much cleaner than dangling that wire behind you all the time. nice!

This was awesome - just copied your instructs exactly to do the same to my 2017 Crosstrek. 1 1/2hrs…looks amazing! THANK YOU

I’ve had my eye on this project for like 2 years now. Still haven’t bought the actual hitch ($300 is a lot to throw down at once, let alone the $100 shipping on top of that), but I bit the bullet on everything else. Just installed the wiring and the same 58404 plug. Your video was a huge help. Never even looked at the included instructions, actually. Just watched this video a few times. So thank you. And I made my own hitchcloak. They’re selling it for $90, and all the parts to make it, including the WRX butt plug, costs about $30, plus like half an hour to assemble. More fun that way, too. Now I just need to scrounge up 300 bones and I’m set. 👍

Good job 👍🏼 Go to Costco and buy a 25 lb bag of rice and a 25 lb bag of pinto beans, and eat rice and beans for the next 3 months and you’ll have enough for the hitch thereafter. You’re welcome. 😉

Thanks for this video. The shot of the plug let me know what to look for when I tore into my 2015 Impreza Hatch. Turns out it doesn't have the handy dandy trailer plug, so I'll need a different harness, but I wouldn't have known what I was looking for without this.

The trailer 4 pin plug does actually fit through that hole without trimming the edges off. I just installed this today on my 2016 Crosstrek. One just has to put the exposed silver pin through the hole first then wiggle and push and pray and swear and it goes through the hole without any trimming.

Those pins are great, installed one on my Hyundai too

Did you go with a 1 1/8 hole saw instead of a 1 1/4 so it would be a snug fit (as the adapter says it's a 1 1/4 size)? Thanks for the guide!

Hi love the idea you show going threw the the trunk can you Show were it comes out underneath the the car
@AZAdventureInc8 жыл бұрын
Sorry, the video is already done, can't go back and edit it to add stuff on KZbin. It's pretty evident though, the wiring comes out between the spare tire recess (metal where you see it fed through hole from the inside) and the plastic rear bumper fascia, right where you see it hanging down at 6:12 in the video.

Do all crosstreks already come equipped with that trailer wire connector behind the paneling in the trunk?

Great video and very informative. I plan on installing my own invisi-hitch and wiring harness using your instructions. Question - in the video, looks like you've installed A/T tires, have you also done a lift kit or springs as well?

With that fully hidden hitch design, where do you hook the trailer safety chains to?
@AZAdventureInc8 жыл бұрын
The Ecohitch chain loops are just behind and near the bottom of the bumper fascia, just reach behind and clip the chains on

hey, I know you do a lot of great mods to your Crosstrek. I'm looking to replace the knob on my stickshift with something better. any suggestions for places to shop for parts online?
@AZAdventureInc8 жыл бұрын
Assuming you are talking about the manual shift knob. The thread size is M12x1.25. Any of the knobs for a WRX etc should work on your Crosstrek, just don't get one with a 6 speed pattern on it. Some like the Cobb knobs www.cobbtuning.com/products/shift-knobs/subaru-5-speed-cobb-knob/
@metaspencer8 жыл бұрын
Oh man, that is super helpful! I was wondering about the threading but wasn't sure how to learn what it was. I'm really looking forward to doing some of the mods you discuss on your channel. :) Car only has 20 miles on it now, so first an oil change
@AZAdventureInc8 жыл бұрын
I did first oil change at 3K myself. Then the dealer for the next free ones and tire rotations. 18k is air cleaner added.

Can the crosstrek pull a small pop up trailer over the passes? Or would that put too much stress on the engine?
@AZAdventureInc7 жыл бұрын
The Crosstrek has a 1500lb trailer towing capacity so if the trailer is under that it should be fine. Hills are taken into account when the factory sets towing capacity.
